Re: Let's Go To a Concert This Summer

No live performances for me ever again. The last was for Eric Clapton. We got the best seats available b/f sellout, but it was just Eric on a huge stage, seated in what looked like a folding chair. It could have been anyone sitting in that chair (sound system poor, too) and those tickets weren't cheap.

That's funny. I don't have white hair and I don't have furs or a ton of diamonds. I am glad you got to see him. Another guy I wish I could have seen and that is Andy Williams and his Christmas concert. I know some have been shown on PBS in the past, but that is not the same. Woman Sad

@Love my grandkids

Bringing up Shakey's Pizza brings back a lot of fun memories. My Best Girlfriend worked there and we had many great times. I had forgotten about that place. They closed many moons ago.

@SilleeMee Late DH and I loved bluegrass. A dear friend had a little band that played on Saturday nights at a local Shakey's pizza. His wife and I were besties and we had the best time!

@Leeny Yeah, long gone. If I recall, the one they played at was in Cerritos, Calif. It was a bit of a drive from Redondo Beach but it was so worth it and the kids had such fun too. "Rocky Top" is still a favorite and my DH used to sing along with the group until they'd all laugh and say "be quiet"!   Good times and happy memories.

@SilleeMee  That Bluegrass festival must have been such fun.

 I always wanted to go to one, but it never happened. With a houseful with 5 children, school & work. Too much life got in the way.

@hckynutjohn  It's wonderful that you got to see some of the great singers. I know exactly what you mean about rude people

spoiling it for others. In 2018 and 2019, my friend and I got tickets and saw The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac. It was at TD Garden (formerly Boston Garden), thousands of people, full.

                   We had very expensive and very good seats at both

concerts. On the floor, not far from the stage, we thought that it was perfect at the Eagles concert, until people in front of us stood

through most of the concert. I'm only 4'11", so I tried to see between people. At 71, I was not about to stand on a chair. Also, there was the horrible skunky smell of people smoking pot.

               The next year we got better seats to see Fleetwood Mac. We were close to the stage and the seats were not too high up.

Here again, everyone was standing. At least we were higher and could see this time. But, there was a group of women behind us, hooting and hollering and not listening to the music. They were probably in their 40's - 50, not kids; just rude and inconsiderate. The one behind me was bouncing around holding a large cup of beer. I was sure that I would be wearing that beer before the night was over.

               We were glad that we went, but would not do that again. It's too bad that people are so ignorant and inconsiderate.

Re: Let's Go To a Concert This Summer

I have been taking my DDs to the Firefly Fesitval not far from me since it started in 2012.  They are old enough now to go on their own which is fine by me.  I saw some really great acts through the years, The Black Keys, The Killers, Jack White, Sublime, Weezer, The Foo Fighters but the last time I went it was mostly rap acts and I got tired of hearing them belt out expletives.  We do have tickets to see the Foo Fighters in July that is if they decide to continue their tour without Taylor.  I am also going to see Haim in May with my oldest.
