I've never had much time to watch QVC, so I'd record certain shows and only watch those hosted by my favorite old-timers.
Now that I'm about to retire, it saddens me to think that those hosts will also be retiring. I've never warmed up to the newer ones. I have trouble relating to the younger ladies. I hate to admit how much it will sadden me when my peer group of hosts and vendors start to leave.
I expect this post will get some criticism, along with the usual comments of "the hosts are not your friends", but after all these years, they do feel like my friends and I will miss them.

@house_cat . I get it. After so many years of watching, you have heard about their families, children, granchildren, etc........I will be sad to see MayBeth retire as well as David Venable and Pat James Demtri and Jayne Brown when their time comes.
I personally don't watch much QVC live anymore, but when I do I can definitely relate more to the "old timers" much more......There are some of the newbies that I do really like though after watching them for a while- Katrina, Vanessa, Mary, Jen Coffey,etc......You will probbly warm up to some of them after a while!!!!!give it some time. Congratulations on your soon to be retirement!!!!

@house_cat , I know just what you mean. As an era of hosts filtered out (was especially saddened by Lisa Mason's departure) I watched less and less QVC to the point of almost never having it on.
I began tuning in again a couple of years ago because day in and day out of dreadful TV news was draining. I knew practically none of the newer hosts and it took a while to know who was who. A few I've grown to enjoy and tune in if I happen to remember. But, I agree, the golden days of QVC are memories of a different time.

Don't miss/wouldn't miss any of them.

@house_cat The disappearance of the familiar in our families, among our friends, and in the whole wider world is one of the aspects of living a long time that I don't remember anyone warning me to expect -- and the older I get, the more pieces disappear.

No criticism here! I tend to agree with you. I do like Vanessa, on Q2 a lot. The others, not so much. There's one in particular that just doesn't seem to have any enthusiasm at all, and doesn't seem like a good fit for being a show host. That takes a certain personality, not over the top, but not monotone or dull either. I'm with you.

My parents were lucky to live into their early 90s. The downside was that they watched everyone they loved pass ahead of them. They handled it so gracefully that I didn't realize how hard it would be. Of course this is a different situation, but I can see it's only the beginning of many changes that await if I am also fortunate to live a long life.

@house_cat I'm older than you but part of the first generation to have TV and watch all the people literally "grow up" in our living rooms!
These people are real and we can relate to what they are doing. They become our "friends" and, yes, we miss them when they are gone!
Who wasn't saddened when Lucille Ball passed?
She was everybody's friend!
The hosts at QVC are much the same. I keep it on for pleasant background noise more than I watch. I, too, have a difficult time getting used to the new hosts and their different presentation style.
Good luck in your retirement!

You're comparing your parent's friends and loved ones to watching QVC hosts?

Honestly, I don't watch all that much and am not attached to any of them but would miss David, but he's the only one.
I like Mary Beth but again, I don't get emotionally attached to TV sales people.
