All the faucets in my house are Delta purchased from kitchen & bath specialty store.  They are 12+ years old and work just fine.

My kitchen faucet is dripping, and getting really difficult to move back and forth...we had it fixed a few years ago, but now it needs replaced.  It has lasted about 10-12 years.

I don't recall the lifespan of faucets but can someone recommend a good brand?

We were told by the plumber not to purchase from the big box stores, but I no longer have the website he gave me to purchase from...the plumber is no longer in business so I cannot contact him.

Any suggstions? Thanks

Kohler products are excellent and what I have since renovating my home last year.

Find a new plumber in your area?  It is more expensive to pay a licensed plumber but the faucet and work will be guaranteed.

drizzellla is right, universal replacement kits are garbage.

Spend the extra money at a supply house for the manufacturers replacement part.  It's not worth the aggravation of having to return to Home Depot or Lowes because the first one didn't work.

I never had luck with Delta, but I swear by Moen.

When we were updating our bathrooms the contractor told us to buy faucets, lighting etc. from build.com. As @ciao_bella  explained, the Delta faucets  and other name brands sold at Home Depot and Lowe's are lightweight, made with plastic parts.

Faucets from plumbing supply stores and those we purchased from build.com are made with steel parts, very weighty. It's strange to see the same brand name and style but two very different products in quality. Who knew?

We have used build.com for a variety of updates and have been very pleased. Good luck!

I have bought new fixtures for 5 bathrooms in my house when they were remodeled.  There is a difference between what you would buy in a big box store versus a plumbing supply store. the ones I've bought from the plumbing supply store are much heavier, less plastic, and of course, more expensive.  I've purchased a lot of Kohler products from the pluymbing supply store.  The one Kohler faucet I bought from Home Depot is noticeably different, more plastic.  If you want a higher end, check out sites like Builder.com and Google a local plumbing supply store near you.
