@Kachina624 @On It et al, thinking if you in this weather.  Has me wondering if a sandstorm is worse than a snowstorm?  I am thinking it would be.  Snow in every nook and cranny?  Winds at 125 mph?  Yikes.  Hope you are doing ok.  LM

@Lilysmom1 Thank you for your concern. I wanted to explain my comment about the White Sands. White Sands National Park is nearby. It is a spectacular surprise to visitors. In the middle of the desert are these huge white sand dunes. When strong winds come from their direction, our skies are hazy white.

White Sands Missile Range surrounds these dunes. You may have heard of it. It is where all types of experimental missiles are tested. It is a highly restricted, secure area. People travel here from around the world to see the White Sands Park.

There's one advantage to the sandstorm.

You don't have to brush your teeth because Nature sandblasts them for you.

@On It    This is White Sands.  Gypsum sand, not snow.

I think I have 'climate change stress syndrome'. That's a real thing. More and more the weather stresses me out b/c it's been so extreme. My anxiety level goes up every time the weatherman man gives us bad news. Even though it might not be that bad at the moment, things can change in an instant to total disaster. I hate that feeling. I can't be the only one feeling this way.

@Kachina624 @Lilysmom1 Thank you @Kachina624 for posting the photo. A picture truly is worth a thousand words. These dunes stretch on for miles and miles. They are indeed a spectacular sight.

I have your same concerns. The extremes are indeed frightening.  I have enjoyed studying weather all my life. If I had been born 20 years later, I would have become a meteorologist. I know what the normals are for my geographic area. We are outside the norms weekly.

@On It

I studied meteorology in college. I was looking into becoming a meteorologist and work for the NOAA. Things took a turn but I sure learned a lot about weather and climate. One of the meteorology professor's name was Dr. Fogg...no kidding...LOL! Another class I took was in cartography (map making) and the prof's name there was Dr. Exline. Who would believe it?

@SilleeMee We both have an understanding of climate and weather. We both have heightened concerns about climate change. At least we can be here to support each other.
