My mother always emphasized looking presentable when you go out, no matter what.

I usually did that.

Once ... just once .... I ran to the grocery store in the midst of a painting project.   Sloppy sweats and hair all over the place.   No one would see me.

Well, I ended up in the grocery checkout line with the handsome, single Mark Harmon in front of me.  He had just started on St Elsewhere, and was even better looking in real life.

I would have liked to say hello, but my mother would have been horrified if I told her what I'd done!  LOL

I ran into a grocery store at night to get tomato juice cause my dog got skunked, I stunk too from it.  Of course I ran into a guy I used to work with.  He looked a little shocked at my appearance. Oh well.

@89135,

Lol! So very True!

and these are all so funny.

It reminds me of Murphy's Law-

"Anything that can go wrong will go wrong."

My most unfortunate memorable time was when we were going to a wedding. I had my son's hand in mine, and his lunch box with a drink and a treat, my husband and I both look nicely presentable.

I look down and notice my chipped red nail polish! and a huge run down my stocking! Just great!

I don't remember having time to change but I think I just thought

"carry on!" We were already running almost late as young parents often can and it was more important to show up in time.

Happened to me many years ago....

An ex 'run-around' BF was sitting in his car and here I am, crossing the intersection....no make-up.

I was on my way back from the pharmacy (buying makeup) very early in the morning.

Approx. 7am when I thought that I wouldn't run into anyone.

And there I was.... explaining to him that I wasn't wearing any makeup, etc.

Now that is an example of being pathetic.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

@89135   Love this and so true. I ran out yesterday to the grocery store and stayed in my torn jeans and tee since I was painting at home. Of course I ran into an old friend I didn't know moved back to town. We went for coffee and even though I looked my worst, it was wonderful catching up.

Happy 4th.
