We got a little warmer today, back in the 20s. But it sleeted last night and since The ground is frozen, there is ice over the roads. All the schools were delayed for two hours with some in adjoining counties closed. Our area has no school bus delivery either. We have staggered school starts. Our Granddaughter In law has to leave first to teach at jr high. She takes Natalie to elementary school to a pre school session first. Two of the granddaughters need to be at another Jr hi. Joe takes them since he doesn't go to hi school til later. Hi school kids go latest here. Of course, that means pick up time is also staggered. Natalie goes to after school, a Y program to wait for her mom. The older girls usually walk to my daughters house unless it is really bad and wait til their mother can get there. My daughter is at work. Then finally, at 5, Joe and hi school dismiss. All over town, parents are juggling school and work schedules. The pre schools follow the regular elementary schedules.
Back in the old days, we all walked to school. Only the farm kids rode the bus. Merle got to ride, but I walked. There was always a group that walked together. School was a mile away. Boy some of those mornings were cold. Being in a group helped and we often arrived at school covered in snow after a snow ball fight or making Angels.
Kids who rode the bus knew they were to stay in their seats and they did not do the things kids do nowadays. Everyone knew the driver including parents and misbehavior was soon known by parents and they did their job. Lol. A whole different world out there now.

Well, the weatherman got it right and I awoke to a few inches of snow this morning. The commute was a bit uglier however I made it to work in one piece. Now, it's raining. I'm hoping the 40 degree weather and the rain washes the snow away so I don't have to shovel when I get home tonight.
Speaking of shovel, this morning, before the rain came and made the snow slushy, I was able to try out the snowjoe 2 handed shovel that was the TSV before Christmas. Nothing gets between me and feeding the outside birds and squirrels. I was impressed with the shovel - it really did spare my back some stress.

We are to get the rain too but the puzzle is, will it refreeze. They don't seem to know.
Freddie, why do you lug the car seat in. We always just leave them in the car. Especially if the kids can walk and help get Into The seat. Do you use the seat for other things in your home? I sure couldn't handle lugging car seat and child. Those Seats weigh a ton.

@Bird mama wrote:Hello and Happy Sunday everyone. I continue to go through paperwork this week and have been keeping my shredder running on the warm side, lol.
In my house there is a place for everything and everything has a place. Sounds good right? Well, the downside to that is you accumulate 15 years of stuff without realizing it. I've shredded old check registers, EOBs from health insurance services and that kind of stuff. I feel like I lost 5 pounds, he he he.
Short of keeping an eye out for the neighborhood hawk as the local birds eat the food I put out, it's pretty much too cold to do anything outside. Perfect time to purge old paperwork.
@Bird mama I burn mine,

Wow, it was sure windy last night. I didn't lose power but my middle sister did. If I can trust the DTE Energy website, she should be restored as of noon. She went to work really early and should be home around 3:30 pm.
The snow we got early yesterday morning was pretty much slush by the time I got home from work last night. I moved the slush with a shovel - took me maybe 10 minutes. Sidewalks were dry this morning.
I have one more day to work this week and have Friday off as a vacation day. I'll probably take down all Christmas decor on that day. If it's not too cold outside, I'll get on a ladder and take down the outdoor lights.

Epi, sounds like you are feeling good!! Great to see that. Are Casino's going in everywhere. Here in Cal, they can only be on native American land - not property of a city or government. Interesting.
Rained most of the day - and it was a busy one. Tomorrow bright and early, the little girl has a followup appointment re a shot she got a month or so ago - cannot remember which one. My mind has gone absolutely blank for some dumb reason and I cannot find her folder where I keep her appointment cards and shot record. Just way too much stuff to do any more. I know it is here but constantly am moving things around, forgetting where they are, not putting them back where they are suppose to be and so on - what can I say.
I know it is late but am leaving some coffee and choc chip cookies. Oh my!

Freddie, you have so many irons in the fire I don't know how you remember your own name - I am not kidding.
It was somewhat mild (for Michigan) and raining when I was driving to work this morning. Just not natural, I'm telling ya.
I will be changing my route home for the next week or so. Last year, in January, the weather was mild like this - 50's - and the wildlife was confused. I had the misfortune of seeing a deer in the process of crossing over after being hit by a car. I remember calling 911 in a hysterical state of mind and I still can't recall how I got home after I hung up the phone.
I don't ever want to see something like that again if I can avoid it.

It's sunny here and cold - just like winter should be in Michigan, he he he. I have the day off and my company observes MLK day so I am going to enjoy a 4 day weekend.
I replaced the furnace filter this morning. It's hard to get the manufacturer made filter around here these days so I order it from Amazon. Runs anywhere from $30-$35 dollars so I'm glad I only need to replace it once a year.
It looks like this and I always mess up once or twice when I putting the black frame things in between the folds of the filter itself. Yoyu'd think after doing this 15 years I'd have it down to an art.

Gotta scrub the tub, and then I will take down my Christmas decor. I have the little tree lit and have really be enjoying looking at it at this time. The house will look bare for a week or so and then I'll get used to it. Short of my youngest bird Presto being on me like lint on black velvet pants right now (as I type this), that's my excitement for the day.
