Re: January 2017 Back Fence - COME ON DOWN

We are in the deep freeze.  We got a small amount of snow but the wind was so strong and it was so cold, it iced up immediately.   Our wind chil is 5 below.  There is a little sun shine this morning.  I didn't get the recycle bin back up from the street last night.  Hoping I can get a better footing today.  Our mailbox is across the street but again it is too slick to try to get there.  When the snow plows so through they just pack it down worse and make it slicker.   If they would just put down a melting agent it might help.  Merle will be home tonite so he can use his truck to get the mail.  I think it is to get in the 20s this weekend.

The buzzer just went off on both the washer and dryer so better get my act together.

TGIF Back Fencers

It's cold today (teens) as it was yesterday but the overall mood is different thanks to bright sunshine that greeted me this morning.

I felt bad for the squirrels because I filled up the stainless steel bowl with fresh water and had to go out a couple of times to break the thin sheet of ice that formed.  I could tell because my favorite black squirrel that walks kinda pigeon toed (like a bear) was licking on the ice and then looked straight at the kitchen window.  Right at me.  I held my index finger up as if to say, one minute, then stepped out and broke the ice.

That's the little bugger that likes to wait for me on the outside sill (behind the closed kitchen curtains) in the dark.  If I don't get outside before him, he waits for me and tries to give me a heart attack when I open the curtains in the morning.

Re: January 2017 Back Fence - COME ON DOWN

Suppose to get to 71 tomorrow - sure hope that is true and not another weather fairy tale. LOL. Right now am absolutely freezing sitting here. This house is so cold in the a.m. and yesterday had a very hard time of getting it halfway warm. Still having trouble getting Davey to NOT open his windows all the way up, turn on the fan and tie up the insulated drapes. I think he has lost his marbles. Of course he sleeps with a thick quilt, HUGE thick blanket and his coat on Personally I really think he has gone South on us at times. So very stupid. And he closes his door and when I or his Mother open it and give him the speech of leave the door open, etc., etc. the house temp again drops way down. This is an old house and takes a lot to get it comfy. He is also ruining the less than year old drapes in there. He just does NOT listen.

The little girl woke up in the middle of the night and was fussy - tried holding here and putting her back down and it took three tries to get her to quieten down. Last time was preceded by me picking her up, cuddling her in my bed and she settled right down and after about 15 minutes put her back in her bed and she did fine. I think her bed is the big culprit - I think I have to get her a bit bigger one which I was hoping to hold off on as I only got this one less than a year ago. It is not one of those very BIG cribs and it fit in my room and was fine for her. She has managed to learn how to completely tear it up and get the mattress half out of the bed - need a bigger one and that bigger bed is going to make it almost unmovable in my bedroom. LOL. Sigh, always something.

Have brought some coffee and go withs for this very cool morning. Hope all of you stop by. We need some food.

Have a great day all.

@Winifred  I'm beginning to think I should skip the food at the fence and leave you some longjohns or cuddle duds instead.

Yea I don't know what to say about Davey, lol.  I sleep with a hoodie on some nights in addition to bed clothes and blankets because I get cold.  As far as the drapes?  I would tell him, keep knotting 'em up and I'll take 'em down.  Then again, he might not miss 'em.

How old is the little girl now?

In the single digits here.  January is always a tough month.   At least driveway is clear. It looks as if sun is going to shine so that makes a big difference psychologically.  Davey knows how to get attention.  What would happen if the quilt disappeared and the hoodie was reserved for school time.  Does Ricky tolerate cold?   That shooting at the airport was horrible.   Watching those people running just made my heArt stop.

Re: January 2017 Back Fence - COME ON DOWN

Hello and Happy Sunday everyone.  I continue to go through paperwork this week and have been keeping my shredder running on the warm side, lol.

In my house there is a place for everything and everything has a place. Sounds good right?  Well, the downside to that is you accumulate 15 years of stuff without realizing it.  I've shredded old check registers, EOBs from health insurance services and that kind of stuff.  I feel like I lost 5 pounds, he he he.

Short of keeping an eye out for the neighborhood hawk as the local birds eat the food I put out, it's pretty much too cold to do anything outside. Perfect time to purge old paperwork.

Good for you Bernie. I am not one to save stuff, but,Vin keeps everything, forever!!!  This is the only problem we have with each other. I know it is because of the way we were raised, but he's slowly getting better after 47 yrs,LOL!!!.

Winter has finally arrived. We only had a dusting of snow, but temps remain 20 or below. Guess I won't be going anywhere. This is the kind of weather where I usually cook or bake, but my pantry is bare..

Re: January 2017 Back Fence - COME ON DOWN

Well Ricky gets hot quickly - guess it is a good thing. The little girl shivers at the drop of a hat. LOL - not Ricky .

Today is gorgeous - rain due tomorrow but after about two weeks the skies are heavenly blue and I am only wearing a sweater with a thermal on underneath. Heavenly indeed but never fear old gloom and doom are returning.

Got the little girl a 4 in one convertible crib. Makes a crib with three levels, or a youth bed or a day bed or a full size bed. Only problem is I had to jam it in my bedroom and now am looking at more tons of junk I have to find somewhere to put. Sigh. does it ever end ??

Have a good day one and all - am bringing some of those yummy raisin bagels

Re: January 2017 Back Fence - COME ON DOWN

Hello, it's still cold here however I'd swear I heard something about a snow and warm front moving in.  I was supposed to watch the morning news when I got up this morning and instead decided to watch an episode of Steve McQueen in Wanted Dead or Alive.  I had a better time watching Steve than our crazy local weatherman, he he he.

Re: January 2017 Back Fence - COME ON DOWN

Good morning everyone. Very cold this morning. Need to begin thinking about waking up everyone - Davey has to go to school and I have to haul the two little ones with me. That is such a chore for me but it has to be done. Sure wish we still had school buses - would be so much easier on everyone. Dumb school district. Need to get a move on in other directions also. Sigh.

Hope one and all have a great day - will try and get back later with some food.
