So my oldest daughter just called and ( once again..) asked..”Mom! Do you have some Christmas decorations I can have?
My husband is upset because I got rid of many of our’s and we’re having a Christmas open house..”
As I always do I said, “ Of course, come over and pick what you want. I have trees, ball in their container boxes, you name it, it’s stacked in the rec room.”
She said, “ I knew you’d come through mom!”
That’s my idea ( one of them) of what moms do...come up with “stuff” their kid needs.
My oldest and youngest daughters are organizers and nothing that isn’t used is in their houses...no junk permitted.
My middle daughter is just like me and my mother.
Oldest daughter told me there must be a “hoarder gene”..that we 3 have it. Ha!
Just this month she asked me if I had an “extra” Dyson hot/cold fan! I did and gave it to her.
Before that she was having problems with her vacuum...I gave her one of my Dyson stick vacuums.
Recently, one of her daughters broke their curler thingy...I gave her 3 to choose from ( I wear a wig).
And so it goes....
I never mind at all. I love giving my girls things.
Just last night I wanted to send her the new Apple 5 watch. She said, “No” she just got the new Fitbit...
She does so much for me and manages all of her Dad and my businesses, plus she manages her husband’s business. She’s amazing.
I do think it’s funny that I get teased about all my “stuff”; but when they need something they know where to go...
I feel like it’s a win-win..
Is your house where someone can “shop”?
Thanks to my friend, it’s all organized and ready to be picked over.
I told her she’ll think she’s at Michaels.
She said, “ I know Mom...I lived in that house, remember”.
Incidentally, I was married to the most organized person you’d ever met.
Opposites do attract...

@Annabellethecat66 My house is like your two daughters...it it's not being used, then it's not going to take up space in my house! I am very organized, sometimes it is a curse, ha!
It's great that you can help your kids out. My mom was the same way, but on a smaller scale...if I was a mom, I hope I would be the same.

No, but my aunt's house was. People used to try to have scavenger hunts but my two friends and I would win in no time. We'd just call my aunt and she'd have it bagged up and ready when we got there! LOL!!!
No, no shame here even!

I always had to work and earn whatever I wanted or needed. I think most people do the same. Very few drop hints to mom and get whatever they want instantly delivered. Frankly @Annabellethecat66 , I'm surprised you'd brag about this.

Think it's absolutely wonderful! Just providing when you can is a gift one gives themselves--makes ya feel good, (also... being needed and able to provide the need, whatever that may be). I Love your giving heart.
I'd also like to be your fourth daughter - (although we're probably more like sister-age). 😉
Bless you and your generous ❤️!

I'm not hoarder. I don't keep things just to keep things but I am closer to 60 than I am to 50 and I have been married for 30something years so I have a lot of "stuff". I especially have a lot of Christmas decorations because I have mine and I have my mother's. I'd love it if one of my daughters wanted some of it! My girls are very independant, they have been since they went off to college. We're close but Mama rarely has to ride to the rescue for either of them. They just aren't in the habit of asking their mother for stuff. Other than my handbags. They have no problem with asking if they can "borrow" one of my designer bags.

At my age there isn’t a lot I can physically do for my girls, but I can always come up with what they need.
Just like when they were little girls with long pigtails flopping...running in..”Mommie! I need this or that for school tomorrow”.
Moms come through one way or another...being a mom is the most important job in the world but it doesn’t come with instructions...
You either sink or do your best to swim...Even when you can’t “do exactly right”...you do your best to Fake it.
Once when my youngest daughter came running up to me, she said, “Mommie! Someone made a bad mistake..I found my picture in the trash”.
I said, “ That cat! He’s always getting in trouble!.. Then I took it, smoothed it out and made a paper frame for it.
I still have it and most of every scribble and picture they ever brought home...Lots of boxes!
When each daughter had their first baby shower, I gave them some of the clothes they wore and the picture of them wearing them.
My youngest daughter is probably not having a child so I recently mailed her a tiny dress that is only a few inches tall. I sent with it a picture of her and her late Daddy. She’s sitting on a wall with him holding her safely.
She said, “It’s hard to believe I was that tiny”. She’s now about 5’10”.
That’s what moms do.
I think about all the single moms as the holidays approach and how hard it is for them.
My middle daughter is going through a divorce. She’s always been a stay at home mom like myself and her sister.
We realize how lucky we are that I have money to help her and 2 sisters and a son in law who are by her side.
Unfortunately, many single moms don’t have that.
They love their children just as much as we do, but they don’t have family support.
My heart goes out to them. I lived with my sister who was divorced. She had 4 children.
No no matter how old we get or how much time goes by that we who once struggled;don’t think about those who are still struggling..
This is the time of year when I make my big donations. Sure, during the year I’ll send checks to mostly animal places who need help. I sent money to pit bull rescuers, a lady I saw on TV who cares for old dogs. I have a friend from school who cares for sick horses, I helped her out.
But this is the time when I help out the single moms who really need it.
When you are making out your yearly donations, my advice is to check into your area and find local places where you know they’ll make good use of the donation.
Those moms are around...keep an eye out...
Fondly, Annabellethecat/Linda

No, my house is not a store.
ETA: The thrust of the original post seems to have changed:/

Our sons alway open our pantry and freezers and tease us about how much food is here.
DH never had food in his house after parents divorced.
My Mom grew up in the Depression so she always hoarded food.
I am my Mother's daughter.
