I would definitely call your doctor's office and ask if they accept this insurance. If they don't you will lose your doctor and may have trouble finding someone who will accept it.

@Mom2Dogs wrote:I have a quote from a health insurance company....First Health. (that is the name on the cover of the quote) It is ACA compliant, my policy is not on the exchange. The agent sent me two links to look at for providers, etc.
When I emailed him a question about two different company names that came up on my search, he told to be sure and click on the 2nd link he sent me, which I did....so I don't know why he sent two links.
I don't want to make this a long question....but how do I make sure that this is not a scam? My husband is skeptical, me not so much. But how do I know for sure?
The monthly cost as a little better than what I am paying now, deductible just a bit higher. It is worth the switch in carriers but need to make sure. Thanks!
Oh boy, this answer is easy ........ lol.
You need to use the A. M. Best ratings as guidance. They are the top INDEPENDENT insurance ratings company not affiliated with any financial institution.
They re-rate 3500 insurance companies every year or so, and is the GO TO source for insurance company evaluation. You will see the A M Best ratings in stock reports, etc. Stock analysts pay close attention to the A M Best ratings.
Here's a little more information .......... HTH

@Tinkrbl44...yes! Sorry I did not get back sooner, I was out of town yesterday. The company is Philidelphia American Life (also sells health insurance).
The rating was Ok...and as I searched further on that site I got a warning on my MacBook...telling me to put in my password and ID......stating something about a 'virus' it freaked me out! I had never had that happen before (the warning was a verbal warning!) I was worried that my Mac got a bug/virus.
I had to shut down 2x and then the warning went away....I am not sure what that was all about.
I ended up calling the insurance broker that handles our business, home and auto...(why didn't I do that first?) talked to her about the policy and she researched it for me...I told her she would get my business if the policy was legit. She had trouble getting information that made her feel comfortable enough to recommend the policy. I was so hoping to save $290.00 per month (difference between my current policy and this newly quoted policy.
Maybe there will be some changes to health care in 2018...fingers crossed, I am at my breaking point with this years premium.
Thanks so much for helping me out.
