I hate traveling but

[ Edited ]

my hs class of 1969 has another party planned for July. This one will celebrate our collective 75th birthdays. Mine in fact is in July. We have had class reunions every five years without fail, plus extras like the We are Turning 65 party ten years ago. We had a big sheet cake decorated like a Medicare card. When I still lived in Michigan I drove 45 min to the reunions. Now in Florida I have to fly. Ugh I hate it. My daughter bought a condo in Michigan to use as her summer home when she is on break from her job. I can stay with her which will help with expenses. My classmates are fun and it was a small town school. Its been interesting to watch us all aging together. The kids who never imagined being old, lol

@smoochy   I am in the class of 1966. We are all over the map. We meet by zoom every 6 months or so. Interesting.

hey thats a cool idea! The local ppl from my class gather regularly at a pub in town. Our reunion/party coordinator is good about getting the info and pics on our fb page

@smoochy - What fun! And how lucky are you that your DD bought a condo nearby.

I love reunions. We both went to small high schools, and I talked DH into going to ONE of his. I introduced myself around and talked to his classmates more than he did!

My best friend from high school and I took our husbands to our 10th. They sat at our big round table and didn't move all night, just talking to each other! We decided then we would leave them home from then on. I can't remember which one was after that, but my mom was alive and I stayed with her

I couldn't make some of mine because of distance, but one of my classmates organized an after-COVID reunion and I had a great time! It was at an inn on the bay, and those of us who don't live there anymore stayed there. DH stayed in our room and I think watched football, but my high school best friend and I were one of the last to leave!  Smiley Happy

I've never been interested in going to any of the reunions.

My class of 1966 is planning our 60 year reunion in August of this coming year.  We usually have a good turn out and lots of fun going down memory lane!

@beach-mom  I took dh to one a long time ago. He was so bored. Now I go alone, much better all around  😄

my school mascot was the Redskins until 2002, when the school board caved to pressure from visiting tribes and changed the mascot name. They became the Redhawks.Ironically one of my classmates was the superintendent of public schools at the time, and was largely responsible for agreeing to the change. Four school board members who voted for it were recalled. The town did not want a mascot change for p.c. reasons and they made it very clear. To this day the local downtown stores offer tees etc in a choice of mascots. Of course its us old boomers buying the Redskins stuff.

No, I'm fortunate....I live only 20 minutes from the club where the party is taking place.

Now that I have moved back to Ohio near my old hometown I can attend our reunions often.  I graduated in 1963 in a Senior class of 42.  There are less than half of us that are left, the others have passed.  Those of us that remain have a get together every month or so at a local restaurant.  We enjoy the couple of hours we get to spend with however many show.
