I took out a brand new quart of ice cream I purchased today and left it out and forgot about it. It melted ... I am sooooo sad. I hate myself. How stupid can one person be. What a loser.

If you drink coffee with cream, the melted ice cream may be good, depending on the flavor of ice cream. I sometimes will use a spoonful of vanilla ice cream in my coffee...it's delicious to me.
edit: not a loser...we all do things like that, I remember once putting ice cream in the refrigerator when I was putting my other groceries away and did not realized it until the next morning.

Hey, we all do dumb stuff sometimes @rms1954 ! Don't be so hard on yourself. But maybe you're doing too many things at the same time?
Just last weekend I almost left my purse at a restaurant. How embarrassing! Luckily I remembered when igot to the car-
I think this was an Oprah quote: "God first sends a pebble, but if you don't take the message, next time it might be a boulder.."

That's not too bad, I did a "brainless" thing the other day when I wanted some cheese & crackers for a snack. I went to put the crackers & cheese back & put the crackers in the Fridge & the cheese in the bread box! LOL

You're not brainless ... just chalk this one up as a senior moment and forget about it.
Okay, the rule is that frozen food should be put away first after shopping.
I assume you put it in the freezer to re-freeze? Takes a few hours, but so what?

Don't feel bad @rms1954 , you're in good company!
On Sunday I made stuffed peppers for dinner. I always put them all together earlier in the day and then put them in the oven about an hour before we want to eat.
About 4:45 I turned the oven on and my daughter called. I walked out of the kitchen and talked to her for about 20 minutes. Thought I'd check on them about 5:30 and take the foil off for the last 15 minutes.
Around 5:20 my husband went into the kitchen and yelled to me " are they done? " I said I'm going to check them at 5:30. Then he wanted to know why they were on the counter. Forgot to put them in the oven! LOL

@Tinkrbl44 If ice cream completely melts you should not refreeze. Bacteria will quickly grow in room temperature ice cream

@gaga LOL Gaga!!! The other day I accidentally brushed my teeth with face wash and started to remove my nail polish with eye makeup remover!! I kept rubbing the cotton pad on my nails and was so frustrated about why the polish wasn't coming off 🤣. I remember one time I put my lunch for the next day in my purse and my cellphone in the fridge.
@rms1954 You're not a loser at all and you're not brainless either 💗! We all make mistakes, and I've accidentally left ice cream on the counter to melt. Did you tip it back and drink part of it like a milk shake? I did that when I found the melted pint of ice cream.

Agree with others @rms1954, you are in good company.
Just last week I made a few meals from a one pot dish trying to get ahead for a busy week. I set the extra meals out to cool in 4 cup glass storage containers uncovered. They cooled all right, right through the night where I found them the next morning. Three meals in the trash and back to square one.
Give yourself grace. Cheers!

We had a lengthy power failure several years ago. I had a brand new half gallon of ice cream in the freezer. When I cleaned out the freezer, I opened the half gallon of what used to be ice cream. The container was half full. There was so much air blown into the ice cream that when it melted there was only half a container.
Never bought that ice cream again. Not paying for air in my ice cream.
I have done lots of stupid things in my life. I would just move on . There will be more to come down the pike. That is the beauty of being human.
