When my son graduated from high school 8 years ago everyone gave him $100. When he graduated from college those same people gave him $200.
I go to a lot of engagement parties, showers & weddings.I haven’t been to a graduation in a few years.

$250 seems very generous and kind of you and your husband. We just gave $50 to the grandson of my closest cousin (we rarely see her grandson), and he was thrilled. Maybe it has something to do with what part of the country you live in. I'm in the Midwest, and anywhere from $50 to $250 seems to be the "going amount" in my area, depending on the relationship.

Same Here @Nightowlz ! Its not something I even remember, but do know if I got money it was not extravagant like kids get today. no wonder so many are so spoiled!

nougat, is that your mother's voice telling you this? Sounds like something a parent of yesteryear would say about my generation.Too broad a brush stoke to paint a whole generation of kids.

I personally think $100 is still a nice amount for graduation. YOu might go up to $150 and since you have to give to 2 that is very generous, in my books..Good luck and let us know what you decided..

A goddaughter outranks a nephew unless the nephew is especially close. I would give the goddaughter $300 and the nephew $200.

occasionalrain, how can a goddaughter outrank a nephew? A nephew is blood. A goddaughter not so.

A godmother accepts responsibility for the child, promises it in church before God. An aunt has no responsibility for a nephew.

I am in the whatever you want to give camp.
My father and brother were VERY generious to my son last year when he graduated HS. My sister sent nothing, not even a card. My son is the only nephew and there are no nieces.
My son expected nothing and was very surprised as were we. My brother who is known as a cheapskate even flew in for the ceremony!
