Our cars are insured with Progressive. Our home with Allstate. Tried to bundle once with Progressive; however, the price for the homeowners was still too expensive. Tried to bundle with Allstate but the price was so high and they were going to give us less coverage (take one car off the policy). So, I need homeowners insurance - but not bundled with cars.
Have you got found a company that has good service and the premiums are a bit better than other companies?

I had the same experience!
I had Progressive with car and rental insurance with Allstate. Bundling with Progressive-their homeowners insurance was way more expensive than Allstates but their auto was less than Allstate so I kept auto with Progressive and Homeowers (rental) with Allstate.
That was a few years ago so I don't have new prices.
I never did find cheaper homeowners than Allstate and for me Progressive was best with auto.
Years ago we had Erie but it depends on what state you are in.
And every state is very different with rates and laws as to what they can give as credits etc.

I have an agent who shops around for us and gets us the best deal he can, we have one policy for homeowners and auto for a while now with Cincinnatti Insurance, claims have been easy to file. We have 2 houses and 2 cars on there, for a long time it was 3 cars.

An Indepentant insurance agent can be very helpful at saving you money.

I not only consider the rate I pay but also the company's reputation for willingly paying claims. Some are notorious for going to extraordinary lengths to give their policyholders grief even after something like a catastrophic natural disaster. After paying premiums for years, they have to fight for every penny they're owed. Both Allstate and State Farm come to mind. I wouldn't have either.

Our homeowner's insurance is paid through our mortgage, so I don't have to worry about an extra payment.
We've had State Farm for years and always had good luck with premiums. When our car was damaged, all we had to pay was a deductible, everything else was covered, including rental. Maybe it depends on the area one lives, but State Farm has been great.

I agree with @Kachina624 on this........
My Mother had Allstate and that's what happened to her.....

@BunSnoop Rates are determined by your state/county/city.
I've bundled w/AAA for over 30 yrs w/never an issue. Well, once over an auto premium charge. I filed a complaint w/my State's Ins Commissioner & won!!!![]()
I have renter's insurance bundled w/my auto ins.
==================================
You can file a complaint against your insurance company regarding rates..............................
File a complaint with the state department of insurance, which regulates insurance activity and insurer compliance with state laws and regulations.
Appeal to an executive at the insurance company
Ask a third party such as an ombudsman to mediate your dispute.

I've had my auto & homeowner's insurance with The Hartford/AARP for years now & have never had a problem with them. I don't think they're the cheapest, but I tend not to jump from co. to co. in stuff like insurance. The couple of times I've called other companies to price compare, the other co. can't beat The Hartford's price for similar coverage, so I stopped calling around.

I've had State Farm for everything for many years. I've had a couple of homeowner claims, went smoothly.
The best part is the agent is in town, no 800 numbers to call for claims or information. About once a year I call around for quotes but so far no one can beat my policies.
Paying through your mortgage is still $$$ out of your pocket. Your home is your greatest expense & asset, it pays to not only shop around but to know what coverage you have & how it pays. Compare apples to apples. Unfortunately where I live we are prone to a mean Mother Nature and barely adequate fire protection, even though the fire house is 2 blocks away. My premium is high.
