Thank you @shoekitty The whole evening was magical for her, I'm sure. I haven't heard about the dance afterwards. I thought the boy she was riding in the parade with was a new boyfriend. It wasn't. She went to the HC dance unescorted. I told her mom, "good for her!". Maybe it will speak to (girls who need to hear it) that you CAN go to the dance alone. Having a date to go to the dance with doesen't define who you are. But she's always been that way. Very independent. I remember when she was between 2 and 3, I put her in a booster seat and started to buckle her in. She said "no, I can do it all by myself". This has been her motto ever since!

I am glad to see the long gown. So much more elegant. I love the colors and what a lovely photo. I think the picture turned out just fine.
A few years ago my former Stepdaughter sent me a picture of her son's Homecoming and his date had an extremely short dress. He was the King. They are quite conservative,
so didn't know what she thought? She said that was the trend with the girls that year. I suppose Homecoming is more casual than prom, in general?

Thanks @UpNorthGorgy
I don't know how long her parade dress was. I could only see the top half. Homecoming, long and if what I saw online tonight was her dance dress, it was mini. Her mother's Jr and Sr prom dresses were long but her 8th grade prom dress was a one-piece black sparkly mini dress.
