Same for me!  I'm getting mine in a few weeks.  And yes, the pain is horrible.  I hope you get relief soon!

I got one in 2022.. I hope you are both having the anterior approach rather than the posterior, which they hardly do anymore.  Much fast healing!  Good luck to both of you!!

Thanks!  From what I researched, the posterior approach isn't done much anymore.

The two newest methods are the direct anterior which you had, and the direct superior.  Both are minimally invasive with faster healing.  The patient needs to be dedicated though to post-op PT and care which affect healing.  Which type of surgery is performed is based on health and physicality of patient, and surgeon's skill/training.

The surgeon I'm seeing specializes in the direct superior approach.  He has fabulous credentials and is top rated in the area.

So interesting to learn about all of this, right?  I'll just be glad to get relief from the pain.  Can't sit, stand, or sleep comfortably.  Just slightly turning makes me catch my breath.  😥  I don't want or need to shake my hips like Shakira, just want to function like a normal person!

Anyway, thank you for the good wishes.  Glad you had a successful outcome!  😃  Have a Happy New Year!

I've been working really hard to get my bone density numbers up so that I can get off the bone density drugs. I'll find out mid-year, when I get my next Dexa scan done, if that will be possible. That's my goal for this year.

After many years on Prolia my numbers got better so hopefully yours are too. I take 2 years off now and get scanned again.

@LdyBugz  Santa brought me a new knee for Christmas. Next year he'll be bringing me another one. The gift that keeps on giving. 🎄

@Catch71

That's great about the Prolia working for you. I cannot tolerate it. I had awful side effects so my doctor declared it an 'allergic reaction' on the record. Had Evenity and that was good for a 13% increase in my Dexa scan results. Now it's Reclast. b/c I'm still too low but I'm working at it.

@wonderfulworld  I've been on Prolia for about 6 years. It's helping me. I've gone from osteoporosis back to osteopenia. Also check your parathyroid because hyper parathyroid pulls calcium from your bones.
