I chose "Beautiful Savior" for both of my parents.  We also sang "Behold A Host."  My pastor says no good Norwegian is really dead until you sing that song.  When my niece died, her favorite song "In Christ Alone" was used at her funeral.  Very beautiful.  I like congregational singing at funerals.

When my dad passed away years ago I brought the CD of Go Rest High on That Mountain by Vince Gill. It's beautiful. I still cry when I hear it. I have been to a few celebration of life ceremonies lately where they played The Rolling Stones and modern music that made us smile knowing that was the favorite band of the of the deceased.

@Mi47 @That is such a beautiful choice. It happened to be playing quietly in the background on Pandora when my beloved father died. It always brings tears to my eyes.

Many years ago my sweet friend died leaving behind her husband and two little toddlers. She was a spiritual person in the truest sense to me; quiet, humble, generous with her time and words of encouragement, beautiful wife, mother and friend.

She had a traditional funeral with classic hymns which were lovely but when her husband exited the church holding his little ones’ hands they played Louis Armstrong singing What A Wonderful World. Through all the tears there was a simple message of gratitude and hope for a better day. I always felt my friend had a hand in inspiring this choice.
