Oh wow, @Travone , we must be kindred spirits. I've told my family to play Spirit in the Sky at my funeral as well.
I've loved that spirited, happy song ever since the first time I've heard it. It just sums up my belief in the transition from this life.
As for my other special request, I've asked for In My Life by The Beatles, my favorite song of all time. Beautiful song about living and loving the special people in your life.

@AnikaBrodie ...Thank you - but the person for which these suggestions are needed for hasn't passed yet -- but soon..heartbreaking to watch but the Lord will give me strength, I pray.

We had Ave Maria sung at my mother's funeral. The priest balked a bit but we stayed strong.
It was beautiful and there wasn't a dry eye in the church.
Wishing you comfort in whatever lies ahead.

It is Well with my Soul is nice. I want a particular Elvis song played at mine with Elvis snging it. It's not that I'm an Elvis fan, it's just that it's his song.
I also want We Shall Behold Him. It would be really nice if I could get a recording of my friend singing it since her singing it introduced me to that song and she did it so beautifully.
And I want I'll Fly Away played as they're rolling me out of the church. But, it's got to be a really upbeat version. I was introduced to that song when I was in High School and we would go to the County Old Folks home (you wouldn't believe the conditions) to sing and when we would ask if there were any requests a lady would always yell out I'll Fly Away.
