Re: February 2021 Bird's Nest

@luvsbulldogs

Luvs,  I'm glad y'all got your Covid shots without too much of a delay or problems.   I'm pre-registered with two hospital systems here and the county.  There's a problem with getting the vaccines into the area and the powers that be are trying to work that out.    My daughter has had both of her shots and yet yesterday she had to be tested as she has a colonoscopy on Saturday.    She hasn't found out the test results yet.   I just assumed once you had the shots you were more or less ok,  but not so!!

I forgot to mention yesterday about the number of Juncos that are coming here by the dozens.   They are all over the place and don't fly when I go outside to put food out for them and the other birds.  Many of the birds come within a yard of me now,  I guess realizing that I bring the food.  They are eating the mixed seeds, proso millet, I think along with sunflower hearts, fruits, peanuts and other goodies.  I even toss the suet balls and the Carolina Wrens pounce on them,  along with the shelled peanuts.  The mix has raisins and other fruits in it and that's good because I have a robin coming to eat too.   I know they love raisins and hope he/she is getting them before the flying hogs arrive.  I spend a lot of time banging on the window and yelling at those bully birds.  Starlings!!!  I know they have to eat but wow,  they are hateful and so piggish, with apologies to the real pigs.

Re: February 2021 Bird's Nest

Today was windy and very cold.  We were in the teens.  Actually wore my down coat when we went out today. More snow on Friday and Valentines' Day but they are not sure of the amounts.

Had no side effects to the vaccine except a slightly sore arm where the shot was given but not too bad a all.  Heard shot #2 of the Moderna is brutal.

Baked brownies today.  I was craving chocolate again....lol.  I am good though because I only have a very small amount and then I am satisfied ......so far...lol.

We checked the propane tank and it looks like after 3 weeks we will be needing more in about a week or so.

@viva923

I am definitely glad that we took the chance and went yesterday even though the roads were not that good.  Am glad like you said that shot #1 is done.  We go for shot #2 on March 9th.  Hope that you are doing well.

@possummink

Did your daughter have any reactions or side effects from shot #2?  I know that she has Crohns and is on a biologic like I am.  I did hear that those on certain biologics might have to have several booster shots.  That is very interesting that your daughter had to have a Covid test done even though she had both shots.

I am so happy that you have so many Juncos at your house.  I know that we both love those little cuties.  We have a group of about 15 or more that arrive daily and several times a day. The Starlings do not come here on a daily basis so maybe they found someplace else to dine at.  I know what you mean about them being piggies.  After a long time of them eating I too  occasionally bang on the window but only when there are a lot of them  How nice that the birds seem to know you and come so close to you.   Then you can get a good look at them all.

I sure do hope that you get called or contacted for the shot.  I did hear that there is a shortage of the vaccine shots but like you said they are working on it.  We do not have very many sites set up here due to the shortage.  They have too many volunteers and not enough vaccines.  We had to drive about 45 minutes to get to the site where they were giving the vaccines. Due to the weather and road conditions we took our time and it took longer.  I will be praying for you to get your vaccine.

Take care everyone and stay warm and safe!!!
