Re: February 2016 - Back Fence

Epi, so glad you checked in - have been thinking about you. Hope you are able to get back again soon. I do understand there are times life can get tiring - emotionally and physically - that is a given.

It appears that today still may be somewhat nice. Rain due???? tomorrow or late evening today and by tomorrow???? those temps will finally bottom out again. Like I often say, however, just not sure exactly what may happen.

Will try and get some more of those horrible broad leaf monster weeds out of the front yard today - weather permitting of course. Got most removed from the back yard but it seems every time I look, there are some I missed. Nothing worse than dirt and weeds - oh how I miss my once gorgeous lawns. Sigh. I get so frustrated as I am ready to drop after a few minutes - my hands ache badly due to arthritis, back hurts, arthritis and am panting, COPD. Now picture that will you? I keep trying however but I get so frustrated when I cannot just DO THINGS and get it done. Time sure can alter our lifestyles can't it? Might as well tolerate it I guess. LOL. Actually can;t think of handling it any other way.  Smiley Frustrated

Have a good day one and all.

Re: February 2016 - Back Fence

Boy this week is flying by.  Had to call at funeral home last night for a former neighbor. He and his wife attend our church and he and Merle both ushered.  He had bone cancer but two weeks ago he ushered and was feeling good. Loved to talk IU basketball   He just suddenly relapsed.

Saturday we will be making a sad call on my daughters niece by her first husband.  She leaves behind three Young children and was five months pregnant.  She had been in hospital with pneumonia for two days and then released.  Perhaps the pregnancy complicated things.

We did get good news about my cousin, Scott.  He seems to have turned a corner.   He is awake and sensible again.  He has a feeding tube and oxygen and is now aware of the pain he is in but to have him conscious again is wonderful.  They hope to move him to a regular room.  At some point he will need to be closed up from surgery.  Don't know how they will sedate him for that.  Still a long way to go but he is on his way

we got snow last night but supposed to be on a warming trend.

Hey @Epicurean

Good to see you

Hey @yock

Betty, what sad visits you have on your plate right now.  Regarding your neighbor, it sounds like he bloomed/blossomed like so many do before they go to join the Lord.

My God in Heaven, I am so sorry to read about your daughter's niece.  What a tragedy and my heart goes out to her husband and children.  There will surely be an overwhelming sense of grief at that visitation.

I am happy to read encouraging news about Scott.  I continue to keep a candle going for him as well as prayer.

Re: February 2016 - Back Fence

Hi all.  It has started to rain here. Thank goodness it held off until we had the meals on wheels delivered.  We went to lunch after tht then did our usual to the grocery store and a couple more places.  Now home and I am pooped.  Like Freddie I just loose it too quickly any more.

Good you checked in Epi.  now all about the rollercoaster stuff.Man yock you have some sad things to endure.  I am so sorry.  And for the young neice with the three small children.  Very sad.  I am enjoying The Man Called Ove.  He is something else.  I got the other book about what my grandma wants me to tell you.

Our son will be in Hawaii next week for his job.  I sure wish I was there with him.  I am so ready for spring/summer. The daffodills are budded so will be in bloom soon. That makes me feel good. The flowering tree buds are swelling and today we saw a few starting to bloom.

Well my book is drawing me to read for a bit. Chat later.

Re: February 2016 - Back Fence

We did have some spattering of rain early evening and thru the night - very very little but you could feel the sprinkles if going  outside. We always need the moisture so am not complaining but am hoping we will have some more soon. The weather guru said this morning we may not having any more until next month and even so, that is not a guarantee.  Sigh.

Thursday mornings are normally when I do laundry but not all that needs washing got put into the hamper - so I guess I shall wait as I do not like to wash doing little loads - waste of water and cost of electricity. Forgot to "remind" my "tenants" to gather up little ones stuff and theirs and put all into hampers - shame on me! LOL.

Really wanted to stay in bed as I spent an hour or more making runs to the bathroom to put it bluntly. Sure felt miserable there for a spell as I was in misery and then like a shining light I finally stopped feeling bad and was able to get back to sleep.

Hope all have a great day.

@Winifred

Freddie, not to gross anyone out, but I subscribe to the 'better out than in' when it comes to intestinal upset.  lol

Re: February 2016 - Back Fence

Need to get some eggs today - that little boy eats those things like there is no tomorrow. Cannot complain however. I so miss the many egg ranches we use to have - was so nice to go and get FRESH eggs - always good. We use to have a lot of them and had four enormous egg ranches. People were happy with them and then "city" people started moving in because of our great rural atmosphere and guess what they immediately started doing here. Citifying the area - they tried - and succeeded way too much unfortunately, in turning us into what they left. Makes no sense. All the egg ranches were closed down one way or another. Such a difference in buying eggs at a regular egg ranch rather than from a shelf in the grocery store. Ugh!!! I know the aroma of the ranches sometimes got a bit strong but actually all we did was gripe a bit from time to time but never wanted them to leave nor did we old timers do anything other than try and keep them going. Part of the closures were due to big companies coming in with a lot of money to buy the land they were on to build those ugly houses all jammed together. Yep, it happens. Course with two of the larger lands, the egg ranchers sold their property for big bucks and then the economy took a downturn and so those people who wanted to put a million houses on the property still are sitting there in two places with vacant land. Serves them right in my opinion.

Hope all have a good day - am leaving some coffee and if you hurry there is some yummy French Toast available.

Re: February 2016 - Back Fence

Hello everyone, I'm on vacation today and Monday and have been productive so far today.  I took my car to the dealership for spark plugs, oil change, air filter and a recall for the front coil springs.  Kills me that changing spark plugs cost $300 but what are you going to do?  They layer components of a car like a cake and it takes a couple of hours to disassemble the stuff on top of the spark plugs before you even get to them.

Because I have a car at home, I didn't take advantage of the courtesy vehicle for the day.  I just asked the shuttle guy to take me home.  I don't want to be responsible for someone else's car in case Murphy (you know from Murphy's law) decides to pay me a visit today, lol.

I finally got off of dead center and replaced the decorative rod that runs across the middle of my bay window and holds sheers.  I already did the main rod at the end of last month and put up my room darkening curtains.  Love them and have slept much better since installing them.

I did a couple of loads of wash and am just enjoying being home with my birds. I'm such a homebody and boring person, ha ha ha.

I need to order another sheer panel from Penny's.  The two I have on the new rod are okay but not full enough for me to shir (is that the word?  I'm thinking shirring) the way I like to.

Re: February 2016 - Back Fence

Well, we got warm weather yesterday - near 60 or over 60.  Later in the day we paid the piper for the warm weather - seriously gusting winds.  Really strong wind creeps me out and I thought it would blow out of here.  It's picking up now as I type, about 15 MPH less than last night, but gusty anyways.

I sorted through my sock and underwear drawer this morning.  Time for new 'drawers' so I have to see if Target has the hanes her way style I like.  I think hanes is discontinuing the style - can't stand when they do that.  If I find those underpants I am stocking up.

The ones I tossed didn't look horrible but I could hear my Ma say, Bernie, would you want to be in an accident with those on?   LOL
