Suddenly, when I got home this evening after closing, FB is totally different!  Now, the conversation goes across the page horizontally in place of the       2 1/2 block that always popped up for conversations.

I can't find how to delete those long horizontal threads either where a conversation took place.Man Embarassed

Re: FB Question

Experiences will vary depending upon how you access the site (device type and browser), whether your software is up-to-date and if you've cleared cookies/cache/website data, and if you tried a different browser.

I just checked and it looks the same as always.   I use a Mac (right now using Google Chrome browser) or iPad 3 (Safari browser), all software up-to-date and I clear cookies/cache/website data at least once a day.   (I only use the full website version of Facebook, and I never did or will install the app because it's even more intrusive -- even more in-depth data gathering, that sort of thing -- and even less secure.)

sorry to butt in here, but I need to ask @dooBdoo: why do you do this? is it a security issue? if not for security, what is the advantage of clearing everything every day? I have a MacBook pro. if it's something I should be doing how do I clear cookies/cache and website data on my Mac?

and, by the way, my FB looks the same as always. haven't seen the problem stated in the original post.

Hi, @MariotaMurielle!   In some cases it can help with security and privacy because it erases temporarily-stored personal information, history, that sort of thing, that we don't necessarily want sites picking up, saving, or using to follow or solicit to us, but in general it can help us avoid a plethora of glitches.   The basic answer is that when websites make any modifications to their code, that can affect the way it responds if we still have old cookies/cache/website data hanging around.   The site will be pulling up old files and data that might not be in accord with or compatible with their site changes, even changes that are small and imperceptible to the user.   Even if we don't do it on a regular basis (I call it "standard housekeeping"), when we encounter any bugs, glitches or when a site seems not to be acting properly...   clearing cookies/cache/website data, quitting the browser, and relaunching it is the first, and easiest, way to troubleshoot the problem.   The second step is to try a different browser to see if the same problem happens there.

Oops!  Just realized you asked "how-to" -- it's different depending upon which browser you use, but you'll find it in their help or do a search for something like "how to clear cookies/cache/data on [browser name]".
