Happy Father's Day to all our Dads who are still with us and those looking down on us with love.

I can say that my Dad was the best I could ask for. He was always there for me, protecting and loving me unconditionally. I can still feel him near me at times I need him most.

If you still have your father with you, bless each day and appreciate him always.

@Shanus- Thank you for this beautiful post. The poem expresses exactly how I feel about my dad. I miss him so much, but I do feel his presence, for which I'm grateful. For those who still have your dad physically with you, I hope you get to be with him this weekend and give him an extra big hug. Heart

Re: FATHER'S DAY

@CarolinaGirl88   I came across this awhile ago and saved it to post. I know it's silly, but I have Dad's gold watch we all chipped and got him for his 80th birthday. It has a black leather band and when my heart is calling out for him, I wear it and feel close to him again. I also kept his glasses and his newest bottle of Aqua Velva he wore every day. I bitt on my wrist and memories come flooding back.

I have so many of his things that were about to be donated and I grabbed off the pile. He was a big man and 6' tall (I didn't get my petite height from him...Mom was 5'2"). I have several of his pj tops that I wear as knee length nightshirts. I took his wedding ring and Mom's and had each of them put on a gold disc that I added to my charm bracelet. He had a few cashmere sweaters that I can wear around the house as very long tunics but would never part with. I thought about wearing his army jacket as a blazer and still may do that.

A father can never be replaced especially if you were a Daddy's Girl like me.

@Shanus, I definitely was a Daddy's Girl, so I know what you mean. I have several of my dad's shirts, too, some cuff links, and some of his military stuff. He was a police officer and I also have the last LEO ID that he carried before he retired. I keep it in my wallet. It's very precious to me.

@Shanus.  Lovely thoughts and sentiments.  My dad lived with me for most of his last year, 2008.  I treasure that year we had together and still miss him so much.

I was 13 years old when my dad passed away from a heart attack.  I loved him very much and still miss him.   My husband recently passed away and now they're both together in heaven.

I was a Campfire girl and we had a "daddy/daughter dinner/dance" one year.   I remember as soon as he got home from work I went into the car, with fried chicken my mom had made us for our dinner, and we drove to the  gymnasium at our local school.

After the meal, all the girls and dads got up and danced.  It's probably the fondest memory I have of my dad.  I remember looking around at everyone and was so proud that the man I was spending the most lovely evening with was MY dad!  Smiley Happy

@Shanus - Thanks for the beautiful post.  I lost my dad when I was 10 from heart disease and I'm 72, so it has been a lifetime without him.  I was a Daddy's girl too and still have his wallet and one of his bow ties.

Wishing all the fathers in heaven watching over us, a happy Fathers' Day.  For those lucky enough to still have their fathers, enjoy every precious minute with them.
