One thing to make note of.... INSURANCE IS FOR THE SELLER!

Buyers should never pay for insurance.  They shouldn't be asked to pay for insurance!  First of all.... if it goes Priority, insurance is FREE up to $50 (and up to $100 in certain circumstances!).

When something goes wrong with the package, it's lost or stolen, the Seller should reimburse the buyer and then set out to claim a payment from the Post Office.  I've done this a couple of times on-line, not hard and I had both items reimbursed to me by the P.O.   Since it is the Seller that is ultimately responsible for getting the item to the Buyer, it will be the Seller who deals with the Post Office.

Ask about insurance prior to agreeing to the sale.....  it's the Seller who is responsible for insurance and for dealing with the Post Office, not the Buyer....  Woman Happy

As a buyer, the worst experience I ever had was the stupidest thing ever.  It was over a lip pencil.    In the ad it was very clearly stated to be brand new, unused.   Good - I wouldn't purchase used cosmetics, anyway.

So I get this and it is HALF USED.   Honestly, I'm not even exaggerating at all.

So I write her a polite email stating that this item was supposed to be new, but it's half used up!

She writes back saying that I didn't buy insurance so too bad.   Uh, WHAT?  Insurance has nothing to do with that.

Well, she stood on her 'too bad, so sad' POV, so I opened a case because at that point it had gotten crazy.  Then, she kept posting onto the case all kinds of weird, psycho stuff.

Finally, I asked ebay to just work this out, please, and stop her from going insane all over the place.   Finally, she offered me a few dollars back (nowhere near what I paid) and I said no.   To be honest, as it was so long ago, I don't even remember how it ended.  But that was about as freakshow as it gets.

As a seller, my only bad experience was a sale for over $200 for a piece of fine jewelry.  It ended up that the buyer had started their Paypal account with a stolen credit card number.   So, instead of taking responsibility for that, Paypal took the money back from me.  I was out the item AND the money.   That really made me make some changes to protect myself.

I've never sold anything but I do purchase from very low to the highest item of $1500. I recently bought a license plate for $7.99 free shipping that I never received, I emailed the guy and told him I did't receive item if he could followup on tracking. He never responded, I emailed him a 2nd time and nothing. So I contacted the resolution center and I got my money back.

After a week or so I sent him an email asking if I could repurchase the item but if he could get delivery confirmation added or get a tracking number. He sent me a very ugly email immediately to never buy from him again. I did reply and told him if he had responded as quickly as he did to this email maybe we could've resolved it.

Good Luck and I hope you hear something soon.

@chickenbutt, OMG, that is just wrong. How can that be legal, out the bracelet and the money. So sorry you had to experience that.

You must have esp.   I didn't mention that it was a bracelet but, yup, it was.    I felt that it was very wrong that Paypal was the one who took a stolen credit card, yet they had no responsibility and took the money from me.   I should have been able to know that Paypal did their part and I was getting a legitimate payment.

At that point I felt very unprotected and even contemplated holding some high-end orders until the payment was definitely clear.
