I was wondering if anyone has ever sold something and didn't receive payment. I don't sell a lot, mostly handbags and a bit of jewelry I no longer want. Anyway someone bought a bag from me on Monday and I still have not received payment despite sending her emails and an invoice. I did go through EBay's resolution center and the ball is now in their court.

I am sorry about the issues, a few weeks ago I tried to sell an old but working computer Someone won the item and then started asking questions, he seemed to think he had not aggreed to buy, since I knew there was no way to get the $ out of him I pulled the item.

The transaction was very annoying

Don't buyers on eBay have at least 48 hours to pay before a case can be opened against them? It used to be longer, but I think they reduced the window.

Once things started changing in a negative way for sellers, I haven't sold anything there for a few years.

The way it was - send her a second notice of payment due.  Give it a few days and, if no response, leave negative feedback and re-list.

Now, I guess sellers can't even leave neg feedback for buyers and that is what I hate about it.    So, this person can just keep going, ripping off other sellers  and nobody can see it in his/her feedback.

If there is still a way to block an ID from bidding on your things, that's another avenue to take for future reference.

The thing is - you can't make somebody pay so if they are just bidding and blowing it off you're just skrewed and out the listing fees.  Smiley Sad

@Meowingkitty

I have faith that ebay watches out for people and here is why:

many years ago a guy told me to please change my feedback for him because ebay would not let him sell for a length of time... he got BANNED.

He also accepted a return from me and refunded my money.

Yes, a seller can still enter the name of a buyer that they do not want to sell to.

Ebay may get your money for this transaction, I am not sure.

It is one of the hassles--

I would have given the buyer more tha 2 days to pay -  even if ebay's guidelines are only 48 hrs. I sell a decent amount and it's great when buyers pay immediately. But some are just slower than others, life gets busy! If there's no reply in a week? -  then I'd open a case.

@Meowingkitty  I am like you----sell occasionally and always have wonderful prompt buyers.  A couple weeks ago I sold a more expensive item (the address was GA, but it said the buyer was located in South Korea) and I only sell in the continental US.  Anyway, I didn't get payment for a couple days, sent an invoice, and then gave it to ebay to handle.  But, just before a case was opened, the buyer paid.  I was pleasantly surprised and of course mailed her package immediately.  So, don't give up---like others have said, sometimes there are circumstances that get in the way of an ebay purchase (emergencies etc.).  I hope it turns out well for you.

@Meowingkitty

Oh gees .......    I have a lot of Ebay activity, and just had two non-payers this weekend.

Now I know some people will disagree with this, but I do this in my Terms section:   "Note --- The terms of this auction require payment within 24 hours, so please be prepared to pay within this time frame."     I get pretty fast payments, as a result.

The first won the auction and I sent an invoice a few times over 5 days.  Then, an email referring to the sale.   Nothing.   Finally, I sent her a nicely worded email, stating that I would very much appreciate hearing back from her, my 24 hour pymt rule, blah blah blah.   Nothing.   So, rather than get into a drawn out thing with an Ebay resolution, I just cancelled the sale myself and re-listed the item.    I hate when people won't give you the courtesy of a reply!  grrr

Gosh, @Meowingkitty, far be it from me to tell you how to run your eBay business, but in all my years as an eBay seller with a store, I have only sent invoices--at about day 7--to a handful of buyers.

If you put a buyer's back up, you risk getting a negative, even if everything else goes well with the transaction, because you've put a bad taste in their mouth. I wouldn't leave a neg if I were treated this way as a buyer, but I would be unhappy, and I'd put that seller on my blocked bidder list, which I also use as my never-buy-from seller list.

I hope the buyer pays and you get a positive or no feedback, but I would rethink being this aggressive about payments in future. It's not worth the potential hit to your FB and stars, IMO.
