I did go to someone's house when I was a kid that had the plastic covering the couch. I had shorts on and can remember slipping around because of the heat between the plastic and my butt.

No my mom never had them. However I do recall she used child labor to dust them 🤣

The plastic covers came with the lamps and my mother left them on. With a husky that hates to be groomed, I think I would use them now!

No, never knew anyone did. I'm beginning to believe that I had/ have quite a sheltered life.

No but my Grandmother did.....her entire house was encased in plastic....a plastic runner over the carpet, plastic on all the furniture, lamp shades, and dining room table.
She even had doilies on the end tables with a piece of plastic over it.
This was my Dads Mothers house and I really didn't like going there.
My Moms parents house was the opposite...warm and welcoming with no plastic in sight.

No, but I had an Aunt that had everything covered in Plastic, her furniture, lamps everything. I remember our legs sticking to the plastic in the hot summer...lol!
Not sure why people did that back then....I will say one thing her furniture looked brand new all the time! lol......

Ha Ha !!!! I can remember back in the early 1960s visiting one of my mother's friends (from high school) she also had her living room sofa & chairs "custom slip covered"...plus a plastic walkway or runner in & out of the room.
It was hard & crunchy plus it stuck to the backs of your legs if you were wearing shorts. Yuck!!
Even then as a young child I can remember thinking how strange (today tacky) it was.

The cellophane covers that.came on the lamp shades --- stayed and stayed. Thank goodness, no plastic covers on the furniture!
