Does she send checks in the mail though ?

I can’t even remember the last time I wrote one !

Just like my Social Security Card, I don’t carry checks anymore.

Yes she does send checks. I haven't sent out checks in a long time. I have said to her. They need a better way with checks because anyone tht sees  check has your account number. They need a better way not to show the account number on the check.

I know not many people write checks these days, but I still don't understand why they haven't come up with a better method. To still print account and routing numbers on checks seems archaic to me.

I remember reading on this forum that there are a lot of people that still write checks out each month to pay bills.

110% AGREE @Pooky1 🌻

Where’s the security there when you expose your bank account number to Everyone ! 😳

@San Antonio Gal - I have as many bills as possible paid by auto pay to my Discover card because I like the points. I have my Medicare supplement auto paid by direct debit from my checking account. The rest, which aren't many, I write a check for. It works for me.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

yes @San Antonio Gal i write checks almost daily for work and for personal payments. they get mailed at a post office OR put into the mailbox just prior to the mailperson coming.

i also keep two personal checking accounts, so i have two debit cards (which i never use my PIN with other than to get money from the ATM.) i always use them as a credit card. one checking account doesnt have a lot of money in it, so i dont feel nervous using that debit card. the other checking acount i do not use often and has more money in it.)

i have had a few issues with debit cards throughout the years, but the banks we use are great about adding the money back into the account almost immediately and they follow up with "paperwork."

You can add me to the list here that have never used their debit card to purchase anything.  I can't remember the last time i have used it. It is a pretty useless card for  me.

  • Exactly. Tons of people see account numbers. That is so outdated. Criminals always find away around everything.

My husband still does send out checks.  He refuses to pay online.

He always goes directly to the PO and drops off the envelopes inside.

I once talked him into letting me pay the water bill online.  Boy, was he upset when he was charged $3.50 to do that.  I didn't even use a CC to pay.  I used his checking account info.  That ended that.

I pay all my bills online.  My checks are dated  19__ on them.  They are that old.
