Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Hello my friends!  What a snowy day we have here in MN!  Not as bad as Mpls. has it though.  Glad my husband is on his way home now from work.  Left over chicken soup's on the stove by his request.  Today I called someone who used to be on this thread years ago.  Her nic was LindainMN. She is not doing well at all, sounds like she's in hospice and a nurse was with her and and couldn't talk long at all.  The last few months she's been in and out of the hospital alot.  So let's pray for Linda in MN - I wonder if I'll be able to talk to her again.  She is the only poster that I met personally - she came here with her husband to donate some good stuff for the garage sale we were having for a fund raiser for Lori to do her 60 mile walk for cancer that year.  We had a very nice visit.  She's always been very sickly.

Unhappiness within comes out in an emotional reaction, unlike the happy person
who is slow to anger. Lord, help me to glow in Your presence so that the heat of
the moment doesn't get to me.

"Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; give me an
undivided heart to revere your name."  ~Psalm 86:11

I believe that life is a school in which I can learn spiritual things.
I can trust in God and God will teach me.  I can listen to God and God can
speak through my mind.  I can commune with God in spite of all opposition
and every obstacle.  There will be days when I will hear no voice in my mind
and when there will come no intimate heart-to-heart communion.  But if I
persist, and make a life habit of schooling myself in spiritual things, God
can be revealed to me in many ways.

I pray that I may regularly go to school in things of the spirit.  I pray
that I may grow spiritually, by making a practice of all these things.

Prayer for the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord

All-powerful Father, Christ your Son became man for us and was presented in the temple. May he free our hearts from sin and bring us into your presence. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Lord Am I Willing

Lord am I willing to risk everything
To go spread Your gospel, some souls to win
Am I willing to give up the comforts of home
If from my family You call me to roam

Lord am I willing my comforts to break
To help other people for the gospel's sake
Am I really willing to help ease the pain
Of someone who's caught up in life's violent game

Can I truly say, here I am, I will go
Go tell the people that You love them so
Would I leave all I have and my family behind
Go help the lost, the sick and confined

Am I really willing, willing to make
A complete sacrifice for the gospel's sake
Would it be out of guilt or by my own choice
Am I willing to say, Lord make me Your voice

Am I really willing to say, Lord send me
To go spread Your gospel, even over the sea
Am I willing to put things in my life behind
To help other people my Savior to find

Am I willing to lose all, to share in their pain
Even when not convenient or for my own gain
Lord help me see others the way You see them
Help me see the condition they're in

Help me to be willing to put all else aside
To tell them they too can be part of your  bride
To tell them You love them in spite of their sin
That You'll be there for them if invited in

Lord touch my heart with compassion for men
Who are lost and dying with lives full of sin
Give me a heart of compassion today
So I can reach someone who's going astray.

A woman was at work when she received a phone call that her daughter
was very sick with a fever. She left her work and stopped by the
pharmacy to get some medication for her daughter.

Upon returning to her car she found that she had locked her keys in
the car. She was in a hurry to get home to her sick daughter. She
didn't know what to do, so she called her home and told the baby
sitter what had happened and that she did not know what to do.

The baby sitter told her that her daughter was getting worse. She
said, "You might find a coat hanger and use that to open the door."
The woman looked around and found an old rusty coat hanger that had
been thrown down on the ground, possibly by someone else who at some
time or other had locked their keys in their car. Then she looked at
the hanger and said, "I don't know how to use this." So she bowed her
head and asked God to send her some help.

Within five minutes an old rusty car pulled up, with a dirty, greasy,
bearded man who was wearing an old biker skull rag on his head. The
woman thought, "This is what you sent to help me?" But, she was
desperate, so she was also very thankful.

The man got out of his car and asked her if he could help. She said,
"Yes, my daughter is very sick. I stopped to get her some medication
and I locked my keys in my car. I must get home to her. Please, can
you use this hanger to unlock my car?"

He said, "Sure". He walked over to the car, and in less than one
minute the  car was opened.

She hugged the man and through her tears she said, "Thank You So Much!
You  are a very nice man."

The man replied, "Lady, I am not a nice man. I just got out of prison
yesterday. I was in prison for car theft and have only been out less
than 24  hours."

The woman hugged the man again and with sobbing tears cried out loud,
"Oh,  Thank you God! You even sent me a Professional!"

God may not always send us what we expect, but He will always send us
what  we need. It's up to us to have the wisdom to recognize the difference
and  be thankful.

February 2 - Jesus Calling

I am renewing your mind. When your thoughts flow freely, they tend to move toward problems. Your focus gets snagged on a given problem, circling round and round it in attempts to gain mastery. Your energy is drained away from other matters through this negative focus. Worst of all, you lose sight of Me.

A renewed mind is Presence-focused. Train your mind to seek Me in every moment, every situation. Sometimes you can find Me in your surroundings: a lilting birdsong, a loved one’s smile, golden sunlight. At other times, you must draw inward to find Me. I am always present in your spirit. Seek My Face, speak to Me, and I will light up your mind.
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
—Romans 12:2

Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.
—Psalm 105:4

@gloriajean

i have been absent from the board for months, tho since i read along, i have seen all of the great changes in your life during this time.

after so many years of hoping, you have your darla  living in your town, and babies on the way too! through all the difficult times of that past year, so many blessings have resulted.

i came in with a request- a long time poster @doxie1, has quietly asked for healing prayers, and i knew that folks who read this thread would be of the mind to offer them.

i am not sure if you have posted with her before- she is always giving jokes on among friends, encouragement and kindness to others, on the pets and widows threads.

i just don't recall her ever asking for this for herself before, so i really wanted to ask on her behalf. appreciate it.

hope all is well, or as well as can be !Heart

luvswesties - thanks for praying for Linda in MN, she really sounded awful and so sick.  My friend Linda, too, needs lots of prayers for healing.  I'm so glad that when I post Jesus Calling, it's good for someone.  Thank you for saying that.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

shosh - it's been a long time! Good to see you again.  And yes, prayers for Doxie.  Yes, lots have happened in the last few months for us!  Darla moving to our town, getting a job at the State University here, getting a new house, just 18 minutes away from here, Us selling our house and moving to an apartment in Sept. and now the Twins are on the way due possibly July 4th.  Wish Doxie would come here too, and I know she'll get lots of prayers. We'd welcome her with open arms.

Harlene - thanks for the prayers for LInda in MN and Doxie.  Our snow didn't amount to much here but in Mpls. and more South, it was a whole lot worse.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Here is my say about email addresses on here.  I have made lots of friends, long lasting friends by my email address when it was in my profile and all I needed to say was email me, my email address is in my profile.  When they hid that, that was not good in my eyes.  But I'm glad it was there when it was, and I gained a lot of friends.  I wish that now and then when I feel it's important to reach out to someone that it would be okay to post my email address again, so to reach out and help someone in need. That is my say so.

So how would be a good way for Bobbiesue to get in touch with Doxie as she so wishes?  This just doesn't seem fair to me.

Thank you much, Bobbiesue, for all your much needed prayers.

God bless you!
