Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Hello my friends!  Hope you are enjoying your Labor Day weekend.  I'm sure there are lots of people on the roads going to their destinations for the holiday! Glad I'm staying home. I will be at Darla's on Tuesday, Greg won't have that day off as he first planned, but that's fine, two day next week is all.  The twins are getting to know their Grandma! Little blessings are great!!  I've been looking for some time now for a recipe for cole slaw that I liked and used last year,  Finally found it and used it tonight.  It's simple but forgot what went in there - Mayo, vinegar, horseradish mustard, little sugar and celery seed. The horseradish mustard is what I forgot about.  So what a blessing that was for me. Little, but great!

Never stop praying no matter how hopeless your case may seem. Pray before
you start your day and when you end it. Pray before you begin a task. Lord, I
thank You for all of Your blessings. Together we can do all that I must.

"If there is any encouragement in Christ, any consolation from love, any
sharing in the Spirit, any compassion and sympathy, make my joy
complete: be of the same mind, having the same love, being in full
accord and of one mind."  Philippians 2:1-2

There is great joy in living the spiritual life.  A faith without joy is
not entirely genuine.  If we are not happier as a result of our faith,
there is probably something wrong.  Faith in God can bring us a deep
feeling of happiness and security, no matter what happens on the surface
of our life. Each new day is another opportunity to serve God and
improve our relationships with other people.  This can bring joy.  Life
can be abundant and outreaching.  It can be glowing and outgoing, in
ever widening circles.

I pray that my horizons may grow ever wider.  I pray that I may keep
reaching out for more service and companionship.

One day, a financially comfortable father decided to take his son to
the country, with the purpose of showing him how poor people live, and
that the son could understand the value of things, and realize how
fortunate they were.

They stayed overnight at a very humble family's farm for 1 day and 1
night. As the trip ended, and during their return home, the father
asks his son:

So what did you think of the trip?

It was great, dad!

Did you see how poor and needy some people have to live?

Yes!

And what did you learn?

I saw that we have one dog in the house, but they have four. We have a
huge swimming pool, but they have a river that never ever ends. We
have imported lamps in the patio, they have the stars. Our backyard
ends at the fence, but theirs goes on and on into the horizon.
Especially though, dad, I saw that they have time to talk to each
other and live as a family. You and Mom have to work all day, and I
hardly see you both!

As the conversation ended, the father remained silent, and his son
added: Thanks Dad, for showing me how rich we could be!!

Always remember those who serve you.

In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10 year old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him. "How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked. "Fifty cents," replied the waitress.

The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and studied the coins in it." Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he inquired. By now more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing impatient."Thirty-five cents," she brusquely replied." The little boy again counted his coins. "I'll have the plain ice cream," he said.

The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left.

When the waitress came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and five cents - You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had to have enough left to leave her a tip.

When the world falls down around you
And a prayer will see you through,
Say an extra prayer for someone
Who may need it more than you.
For who knows what hearts are breaking
In the silence of the night?
Just that extra prayer you whisper
May help someone see the light!
Every time you help a stranger
With an extra prayer - or two -
You are building secret blessings
That will all come back to you!

Mary, Mother of Jesus,
give me your  heart
so beautiful, so pure,
so immaculate,
that I may be able to receive
Jesus in the Bread of Life,
love Him as you loved Him,
and serve Him as you served Him
in the distressing disguise
of the poorest of the poor.
Amen.

September 3 - Jesus Calling

Let the dew of My Presence refresh your mind and heart. So many, many things vie for your attention in this complex world of instant communication. The world has changed enormously since I first gave the command to be still and know that I am God. However, this timeless truth is essential for the well-being of your soul. As dew refreshes grass and flowers during the stillness of the night, so My Presence revitalizes you as you sit quietly with Me.

A refreshed, revitalized mind is able to sort out what is important and what is not. In its natural condition, your mind easily gets stuck on trivial matters. Like the spinning wheels of a car trapped in mud, the cogs of your brain spin impotently when you focus on a trivial thing. As soon as you start communicating with Me about the matter, your thoughts gain traction and you can move on to more important things. Communicate with Me continually, and I will put My thoughts into your mind.

“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
—Psalm 46:10

She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
—Luke 10:39–42

For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
—1 Corinthians 14:33 nkjv

Regarding the last sentence in your post,  it's the little things that

matter most!  Blessings for your twin granddaughters and family.

Isn't it wonderful when they recognize you, your voice, scent and touch☺️

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

I thought I'd come by this evening since I'm on the computer, most of the time I post using my tablet. It is much easier to type on the computer. That tablet gets on my nerves! lol

We got out pretty early and ran some errands. It started out cloudy, a little wind with comfortable temps but before long, the sun came through and the temps rose. At least the humidity wasn't so bad.

Hope you all had a good day. Rest well and I'll talk to you later. God bless.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Good Morning!  Hope you are all well. We are getting ready for what will be left of "Hermine" so not sure what that will all mean. I am not near the coast but seems it still will pack a punch.  After Mass will go do a few errands in case Monday is nasty.  GH!

Good time at the museum yesterday and we were busy.  Lots of people traveling and seeing New England. Always love that they stop to see us at Orchard House.  Again, worked with some lovely women and just had a nice few hours there.

Quiet for rest of the weekend and just looking forward to that a great deal.  Just need to be and regroup from a whirlwind of summer school ending and school year beginning.  Will chat with my cousin also, our Sunday call which makes not only my day but my week.

So, many blessings to you all.  I pray the day brings you joy, happiness and many ordinary miracles.

Peace, Nancy
