Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Hello my friends!  Lori gave us an old artificial tree for this year - it's a smaller one, looks like a charlie brown tree, but the girls came over tonight and they decorated it and put lights on etc. and now it's a beauty!  My husband even said it's good enough to keep and not having to go buy a new one after Christmas which was the plan.  Made ToFurkey for supper because Darla is vegetarian.  Turned out good.

 

It is far wiser to ask God for what He thinks is good for us, than for what
we think is good for us.  Lord, Your Will not mine be done.

 
S C R I P T U R E   F O R   T H E   D A Y

M E D I T A T I O N   F O R   T H E   D A Y  

"I believe; help my unbelief!"  This cry of the human heart is an
expression of human frailty.  It signifies the soul's sincere desire for
progress.  As we feel the existence of God and God's power, we can
believe in God more and more.  At the same time, we can be more
conscious of our falling short of absolute trust in God.  The soul's
progress is an increasing belief, then a cry for more faith, a plea to
conquer all unbelief, all lack of trust.  We can believe that this cry
is heard by God and that this prayer is answered in due time.  And so
our faith can grow, little by little, day by day.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y  

I pray that with more power in my life will come more faith.  I pray
that I may come to trust God more each day.

REMEMBER THE DUCK

There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was given
a slingshot to play with, out in the woods. He practiced in the woods, but
he could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged, he headed back
to dinner.

As he was walking back, he saw Grandma's pet duck. Just out of impulse, he
let fly, hit the duck square in the head, and killed it. He was shocked and
grieved. In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile, only to see his
sister watching. Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.

After lunch that day grandma said, "Sally, let's wash the dishes." 

But Sally said, "Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen
today, didn't you Johnny?" And then she whispered to him, "Remember, the
duck?" So Johnny did the dishes.

Later Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing, and Grandma said,
"I'm sorry but I need Sally to help make supper."

But Sally smiled and said, "Well, that's all right because Johnny told me he
wanted to help." And she whispered again, "Remember, the duck?" So Sally
went fishing and Johnny stayed.

After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's, he finally
couldn't stand it any longer. He came to Grandma and confessed that he
killed the duck. She knelt down, gave him a hug, and said, "Sweetheart, I
know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing. But
because I love you, I forgave you. But I was just wondering how long would
you let Sally make a slave of you."

I don't know what's in your past. I don't know what one sin the enemy keeps
throwing up in your face. But whatever it is, I want you to know something.
Jesus Christ was standing at the window and He saw the whole thing. But
because He loves you, He is ready to forgive you. Perhaps He's wondering how
long you'll let the enemy make a slave out of you. The great thing about
God is that He not only forgives, but He forgets.

Gloria I hope you and Linus enjoy the little tree Lori gave you and they way the girls

decorated it.

It just shows you can't judge a book by it's cover.

hi Gloria and all,  glad to hear everyone had such a nice thanksgiving.  We had our dinner yesterday as our daughter is a nurse and had to work. We had a ham instead of turkey, less work but I miss the turkey and all trimmings.  Maybe next year I'll go back to turkey again.

Todsy after church I'll decorate for Christmas.  We don't put up a tree anymore, with 5 cats we don't think it's a good idea. So I just decorate our mantle and outside on front porch.  It's not as much fun with no small kids and our only grandson is 24, so we've scaled back on the decorations.  Take care...marmot

Marmot - That's good not bothering with a tree anymore, Just some decorations to put Jesus in the Season, right?  

 

Hope everything is going well with you and yours.  Your Thanksgiving Dinner sounded great!!!  Ham is good too!!  Left over ham bone makes delicious bean or split pea soups!!

Harlene - That sure is true.  Quite a transformation took place on that old tree!!  The fellowship was wonderful!
