Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Hello my friends!  Hope you all enjoyed the day today - did you go shopping?  Not I. My husband works in an appliance store and it was very busy today also.  It's a great blessing to me that my hands are getting better and better!  Praise God for His healing power, and answering your prayers for me!!

It is much harder to see today if you are looking at yesterday. Lord, help
to live and appreciate each moment as I am experiencing it so that I am
prepared more fully for the next moment.

S C R I P T U R E   F O R   T H E   D A Y

"Put away from you all bitterness and wrath and anger and wrangling and
slander, together with all malice, and be kind to one another,
tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as
Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and
sacrifice to God."  ~Ephesians 4:31-5:2

We cannot believe in God and keep our selfish ways.  When we believe
more strongly in God, we begin to abandon our selfish ways.  The old
self can shrivel up and die, and God's image can become much clearer.
The gradual elimination of selfishness in the growth of love for God and
our fellow human beings is a wonderful goal in our lives.  As the
picture grows, we can reveal more and more of the likeness of God until
those who see us can see in us the power of God's grace at work in a
human life.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that I may grow in my likeness to God.  I pray that others may see in
me some of the power of God's grace at work.

Make a Difference

A man was walking down a deserted Mexican beach at sunset. As he walked along he began to see another man in the distance.

As he grew nearer he noticed that the local native kept leaning down, picking something up, and throwing it out into the water. Time and again he kept hurling things out into the ocean.

As our friend approached even closer he noticed that the man was picking up starfish that had washed up onto the beach, and one at a time, he was throwing them back into the ocean.

The first man was puzzled. He approached the man and said, "Good Evening Friend, I was wondering what are you doing?" And he replied, "I'm throwing these starfish back into the ocean. You see, it's low tide right now and all these starfish have been washed up onto the shore. If I don't throw them back into the sea, they will die from the lack of oxygen."

"I understand," my friend replied "but there must be thousands of starfish on this beach and you couldn't possibly get to all of them. There are simply too many and don't you realize that this is happening on hundreds of beaches up and down this coast ... can't you see that that you can't possibly make a difference?

The local native smiled, bent down, picked up yet another starfish ... and as he threw it back out into the sea, he replied, "It made a difference to that one!"

You may feel like you cannot make a difference in the world today, but you CAN make a difference in one life at a time.

GOD'S WILL FOR OUR LIVES
-- Author Unknown

A young, new preacher was walking with an older, more seasoned preacher in the garden one day and feeling a bit insecure about what God had for him to do, he was inquiring of the older preacher. The older preacher walked up to a rosebush and handed the young preacher a rosebud and told him to open it without tearing off any petals.

The young preacher looked in disbelief at the older preacher and was trying to figure out what a rosebud could possibly have to do with his wanting to know the WILL OF GOD for his life and for his ministry. Because of his high respect for the older preacher, he proceeded to TRY to unfold the rose, while keeping every petal in tact...It wasn't long before he realized how it was impossible to do so.

Noticing the younger preacher's inability to unfold the rosebud while keeping it in tact, the older preacher began to tell the following poem...

UNFOLDING THE ROSEBUD

It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of GOD's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.
The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so sweetly,
When in my hands they fade and die.
If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of GOD's design,
Then how can I think I have wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?

So I'll trust in Him for His leading
Each moment of every day.
I will look to Him for His guidance
Each step of the pilgrim way.

The pathway that lies before me,
Only my heavenly Father knows.
I'll trust Him to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose.

Let thankfulness rule in your heart. As you thank Me for blessings in your life, a marvelous thing happens. It is as if scales fall off your eyes, enabling you to see more and more of My glorious riches. With your eyes thus opened, you can help yourself to whatever you need from My treasure house. Each time you receive one of My golden gifts, let your thankfulness sing out praises to My Name. “Hallelujahs” are the language of heaven, and they can become the language of your heart.

A life of praise and thankfulness becomes a life filled with miracles. Instead of trying to be in control, you focus on Me and what I am doing. This is the power of praise: centering your entire being in Me. This is how I created you to live, for I made you in My own image. Enjoy abundant life by overflowing with praise and thankfulness.

"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts… And be thankful.
—Colossians 3:15"

Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized.
—Acts 9:18

And again they shouted: “Hallelujah!…” The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne. And they cried: “Amen, Hallelujah!” Then a voice came from the throne, saying: “Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both small and great!” Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.”
—Revelation 19:3–6

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
—Psalm 100:4

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Happy day after the day after.

There is no way you could get me out to those stores on "Black Friday".

My husband and I did go food shopping which was great because the markets were empty.

We did have a great Thanksgiving, but we had roast chicken, it's only the three of us my husband and me and my brother and none of us care too much for turkey, but we did have all the trimmings.

Hope you all had a great day too.

Blessings to all.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

I am very happy that you are healing.  Often it is not as fast as we would like, but thankfully this is happening.

I hope one and all had a happy and peaceful Thanksgiving Day.

No, we did not venture out in the stores.  DH and I exchange gifts, but we have eliminated exchanging with all other adults within the family.  Everyone is happy and relieved about that.  We did, however, buy a lot for our two little grandchildren on line.  The deals were great, no fuss, no muss, and delivered to us for free.  We buy not only for Christmas, but for grandson's birthday in mid-January (turning 8), and for grandaughter's birthday in mid-February (turning 3).  We already have a present for DIL's birthday in early January (and we always supplement with some $ she can spend on herself, for a change).  We will see our "little toots" this weekend to give them a few little Advent calendars and such.  Plus, I scope out buys on clothing for them and just love helping out.  We obviously donate to charity, as well.  My favorite saying:  "Give with a warm hand."

Blessings to all!

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Hi Pam, yes, the healing is taking its own time, every time I feel so much better, I work harder doing more things, and wham, it's aching again.  Waiting to be able to make breads again!

We exchange gifts with our family, no others.  We even do the stockings some years,  that is getting so expensive now too!  Thanks for your wonderful post!  Nice getting to know you better!

Welcome to our thread, Daisy!  Was nice to see you here, and I love the food court too!  My daughter would take me there while shopping sometimes.
