Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Hello my friends!  Very nice Mass this morning!  Good homily and we served coffee and donuts after Mass.  It's always good to go to Mass - wish we could daily again, but we can't now with my helping Darla out.  Someday again we'll go to Mass daily!  Nice way to start out the day!  Today we rested - tomorrow I'll make some chicken soup to take along - Lori's going to Darla's on Tuesday for lunch, so I make sure there's a good lunch ready.  Darla's vegetarian, so I'm bringing mushroom stuffed pastas over to her. She usually makes good vegetarian soups in her crock pot.  Since she's been pregnant she is eating seafood then and now.  We're staying there overnight tomorrow night, just to be there so she's not alone in case something happens.  We won't go on night duty until Wednesday night.  Everyone here's wishing you all a blessed Monday!

Do not be upset by events of the past, rather be upset by the time

and energy you are devoting to them. Lord, help me to enjoy each

moment by completely letting go of the past.

"Lord, send out your spirit, and renew the face of the earth!"  Psalm
response for Pentecost

M E D I T A T I O N   F O R   T H E   D A Y

It is good for me to help others all I can.  Every troubled soul that
God puts in my path is the one for me to help.  As I sincerely try to
help, a supply of strength will flow into me from God.  My circle of
helpfulness can widen more and more.  God hands out the spiritual food
to me and I pass it on to others.  I need never say that I have only
enough strength for my own need.  The more I give away, the more I
will keep.  That which I keep to myself, I will lose in the end.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that I may have a sincere willingness to give.  I pray that I
may not hold back the strength I have received for myself alone.

Prayer for Students

Father Joseph, you taught Jesus how to work and play,

help us to realise that we can only gain knowledge by listening and learning.

With you to help and guide us we pray,

O Saint Joseph, that we will choose the right path

and will remain faithful to the teachings of Jesus.

Amen.

WE STILL HAVE WAYS TO GO!

--Author Unknown

We have taller buildings, but shorter tempers; wider freeways but narrower viewpoints.

We spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy it less.

We have bigger houses and smaller families; more conveniences, but less time.

We have more degrees, but less common sense; more knowledge, but less judgment; more experts but more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry too quickly, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too seldom, watch TV too much and pray too little.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.

We talk too much, love too seldom and lie too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life; we've added years to life, not life to years.

We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor. We've conquered outer space but not inner space; we've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul; we've split the atom, but not our prejudice; we write more, but learn less; plan more, but accomplish less.

We've learned to rush, but not to wait; we have higher incomes; but lower morals. We have more food but less appeasement; more acquaintances, but fewer friends; more effort but less success.

We build more computers to hold more information, but have less communication; we've become long on quantity but short on quality.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion; tall men and short character; steep profits and shallow relationships. These are times of domestic warfare; more leisure and less fun; more kinds of food, but less nutrition.

These are days of two incomes, but more divorces; of fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throw away morality, one-night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the show window, and nothing in the stockroom. Indeed there is a lot of truth in these remarks; think about it.. .read it again.

We need to get away at times
From life's demanding ways
And find some quiet, little nook
in which to dream or pray

A small escape from daily trials
that temper joys of life
and burden us with little fears
that add to tears of strife

a private place where we can be
alone in God's embrace
and dream, a little, and dwell, a little
in arms of Holy Grace

A place to rest our heart and soul
against what is to be
when return to what we left
and what we can't foresee.

My Precious Lord

When daily toils and trials increase,
My Lord gives His abiding peace.

When once-dear friends forsake and flee,
I feel His arms enfolding me.

When I feel lost and all alone,
'Tis then His tender love is shown.

When no one's near to hear my cry,
I know my precious Lord is nigh.

Though I sink low in deep despair,
He shows again His constant care.

When no more pain can I endure,
He gives me hope, steadfast and sure.

And as I lift my heart and pray,
I feel His strength anew each day.

He leads and guides each step I take,
And tells me He will not forsake.

And as I read His Word He feeds
My hungry soul, and fills my needs.

He gives me grace, and so much more!
Some day my ransomed soul shall soar,

And In God's loving arms I'll be
Secure for all eternity!

GUIDANCE

Author Unknown

When I meditated on the word guidance, I kept seeing "dance" at the end of
the word. I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.
When two people try to lead, nothing feels right. The movement doesn't flow
with the music, and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.

When one person relaxes and lets the other lead, both bodies begin to flow
with the music. One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back or
by pressing lightly in one direction or another. It's as if two become one
body, moving beautifully. The dance takes surrender, willingness, and
attentiveness from one person and gentle guidance and skill from the other.

My eyes drew back to the word guidance. When I saw "G," I thought of God,
followed by "u" and "i." God, "u" and "I" dance. God, you, and I dance.
This statement is what guidance means to me.

As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust that I would get guidance
about my life.

Once again, I became willing to let God lead.

September 18 - Jesus Calling

Seek to please Me above all else. Let that goal be your focal point as you go through this day. Such a mind-set will protect you from scattering your energy to the winds. The free will I bestowed on you comes with awesome responsibility. Each day presents you with choice after choice. Many of these decisions you ignore and thus make by default. Without a focal point to guide you, you can easily lose your way. That’s why it is so important to stay in communication with Me, living in thankful awareness of My Presence.

You inhabit a fallen, disjointed world, where things are constantly unraveling around the edges. Only a vibrant relationship with Me can keep you from coming unraveled too.

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

— Matthew 6:33

“The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.”

— John 8:29

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

— Colossians 3:23-24

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Monday

When I was unemployed I attended Mass daily and really loved that time and the peace and clarity it brought to my life. I miss going each day but do try when I am off.

Hope everyone had a blessed Sunday.  So much going on in the country with all the bombings and stabbings.  Stay safe today and I just pray we will rise above this all and really take care of each other.

Many blessings to everyone today and a day filled wth joy and peace.

Peace, Nancy

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Good morning ladies - as my DH is in proposal mode, my time on the computer is very limited.

What a wonderful start for us today Gloria, thank you.  Enjoy your time with the babies.

NJ - this has become a very scary world.  It seems to be too common for violent acts here in this country.  I worry about the US becoming Europe or the Middle East, it sure seems that's the direction we are going.Woman Sad

Meallen - that's a beautiful fall picture.  Our leaves are beginning to change.  Thank you.

Harlene - indeed, we need to have our heads on a swivel.

Ladies - let's try to find wonderful blessings all around today, take away the thoughts of sadness and fear.

God bless this USA.
