Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Hello my friends!  Well Sunday is a day of rest so after Mass, after our good meal, I took a nap while he watched football.  I'm not into that.  I'm sure a lot of you are. Anyway, it was a nice, peaceful Sunday, got a bunch of tomatoes from his brother, so diced and froze them leaving some for just eating.  May you all have a blessed Monday!

Not one day passes without receiving wonderful blessings from our loving
and generous God.  Lord, may I forget the irritations that distract me from
Your happiness.

 S C R I P T U R E   F O R   T H E   D A Y

"Seek the LORD while he may be found, call upon him while he is near."
~Isaiah 55:6

M E D I T A T I O N   F O R   T H E   D A Y

God finds, amid the crowd, a few people who follow, just to be near God,
just to dwell in God's presence.  A longing in the eternal heart may be
satisfied by these few people.  I can let God know that I seek not just to
dwell in God's presence, to be near God, not so much for teaching or a
message, as just for God.  It can be that the longing of the human heart to
be loved for itself is something caught from the great divine heart.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that I may have a listening ear, so that God may speak to me. I pray
that I may have a waiting heart, so that God may come to me.

Offering of Life to Our Lady

Mary, Mother of Jesus Christ
 and also my Mother,

I offer to you all that I have:
 my body,
 my intelligence,
 my heart,
 my will,

so that you help make my life
 a worthy offering to Christ.

You, who saw Jesus
 prepare Himself for his mission
  and channel all his energies
   to do his Father's will,

grant that I have
 the vigor of his body,
 the feelings of his heart,
the brilliance of his intellect, and
 the determination of his will
so that my life, like His, could be
given to the service of others.

May nothing which touches other humans
 leave me indifferent.
  May I,
in all situations and in every endeavor,
seek to develop my potential to the utmost,
so that I will be more prepared,
    tomorrow,
to make better known and better loved
Him who alone can give meaning
   to my life,
just as he gave meaning to yours,
Jesus Christ, your son, and my brother.

     Amen.

[Translated from Fernand Lelotte, S.J., Rabboni (Paris: Casterman, 1955) by Dr. Chau T. Phan, Rider University.]

A minister told his congregation, “Next week I plan to preach about the sin of lying. To help you understand my sermon, I want you all to read Mark 17.”

The following Sunday, as he prepared to deliver his sermon, the minister asked for a show of hands. He wanted to know how many had read Mark 17. Every hand went up.

The minister smiled and said, “Mark has only sixteen chapters. I will now proceed with my sermon on the sin of lying.”

Just a Little Bit of Love

Just a little bit of love,
How bright it made the day
The burdened heart was lighter
And sweeter seemed the day.

Just a little bit of love,
And gloomy thoughts were gone,
The rosy hues of morning
With each reflection shone.

Just a little bit of love,
The trembling hand was strong
And nerved to win the battle,
Although the fight was long.

Just a little bit of love,
And wondrous is its power
To strengthen, bless and gladden
In every needy hour.

DON'T LOOK BACK
Author Unknown

As you travel through life there are always those times
When decisions just have to be made,
When the choices are hard, and solutions seem scarce,
And the rain seems to soak your parade.

There are some situations where all you can do
Is simply let go and move on,
Gather your courage and choose a direction
That carries you toward a new dawn.

So pack up your troubles and take a step forward -
The process of change can be tough,
But think about all the excitement ahead
If you can be stalwart enough!

There might be adventures you never imagined
Just waiting around the next bend,
And wishes and dreams just about to come true
In ways you can't yet comprehend!

Perhaps you'll find friendships that spring from new things
As you challenge your status quo,
And learn there are so many options in life,
And so many ways you can grow!

Perhaps you'll go places you never expected
And see things that you've never seen,
Or travel to fabulous, faraway worlds
 And wonderful spots in between!

Perhaps you'll find warmth and affection and caring
 And somebody special who's there
To help you stay centered and listen with interest
To stories and feelings you share.

Perhaps you'll find comfort in knowing your friends
Are supportive of all that you do,
And believe that whatever decisions you make,
They'll be the right choices for you.

So keep putting one foot in front of the other,
And taking your life day by day...
There's a brighter tomorrow that's just down the road -
Don't look back! You're not going that way!

Mother Teresa Said:

Recently a real windfall of charity was experienced throughout Bengal. Food and clothing arrived from everywhere. It came from schools, men, women, and children, to be distributed during the monsoon disaster.  The monsoon was something terrible, but it brought about the concern and awareness that our brothers and sisters were suffering because of a natural disaster.  And many people decided to do something to help them. There were people who prepared meals in their homes to share with those in need. It was something very beautiful to witness that such terrible suffering could help about so much good in so many people.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a nice weekend.  We got some rain and relief from very humid weather so feels good.  Fall is in the air which is certainly pretty here in MA but I dislike winter so much kind of makes me sad.  I am spring summer gal!

Many blessings today and I pray ordinary miracles surround you.

Peace, Nancy

Good afternoon ladies -

Gloria - thank you for the inspirations today, beautiful.  Love fresh tomatoes, which we would get more around here.

Harlene - have a great Monday.

Bella - good idea to share the blessings from Gloria.  If I knew how to cut and paste, I would do the same.  If I knew how to do much of anything on the computer, I would be better off.Woman Indifferent or maybe just get myself in trouble.Woman Wink

NJ - happy you have time to post with a busy school schedule.  The weekend was nice, watched several 9-11 tributes before the football games.  They were beautiful.

Bella - your post just warmed my heart!!!  Glad you are copying and pasting and sharing with friends - that's God's work in all of us - spreading His goodness to others.  I've been doing this thread for about 9 years now, I don't intend to stop posting unless the Q makes me quit.

Nancy - I dislike winter too, like you, I like spring and summer the best.  But Fall is nice, nice colors, cooler temps, it's really cooling down here in MN now.  I think too fast!  Tomorrow night it will in the 30's.  Brrrr.
