Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Hello my friends!  We were to Darla's tonight, brought over supper, and found out the twins' checkup went very well, and they each weigh now a little more than their birth weight.  But please pray for Darla. She is exhausted, pumping every 3 hours, feeding them every 3 hours, both she and Greg do this together while he has another week of vacation left, then he has to work. But her blood pressure is still too high, with the bottom number in the 90's, and she may have to be admitted again at the hospital if it doesn't go down, also she has headaches.  I know I can count on your prayers.  It was so nice being there tonight, both need sleep!!

No detail is too insignificant for God's attention.  Lord, You encourage me daily
as You guide my humblest moments.

love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal."  ~1 Corinthians 13:1

M E D I T A T I O N   F O R   T H E   D A Y

"If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have
love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal."  Love means to care
enough about other people to really want to do something for them.  A
smile, a word of encouragement, a word of love, goes winged on its way,
simple though it may seem, while the mighty words of an orator can fall
on deaf ears.  We can use up the odd moments of our day in trying to do
some little thing to cheer up another person.  Boredom can come from
thinking too much about ourselves.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that my day may be brightened by some little act of charity.  I
pray that I may try today to overcome the self-centeredness that can
bore me.

YOUR LIFE IS JESUS TO SOMEONE

YOUR LIFE is Jesus to someone,
though tattered and torn it may be.
Though often times weak and unstable,
you're all of God someone will see.

YOUR TONGUE is Jesus to someone.
That idle, insensitive word
reflects to at least one searching heart
an idle, insensitive Lord.

YOUR GOALS are Jesus to someone.
What you put first, they believe,
are the goals of God for the Christian.
Your life is all they receive.

YOUR FAITHFULNESS... that's Jesus to someone.
Their judgement of how God is true,
rests unquestionably in the faithfulness
they see day by day in you.

YOUR LOVE is Jesus to someone--
that someone who is seeking to know
that Jesus will follow and guide and
befriend wherever in life they might go.

SO BEWARE lest others blaspheme
God by what you say or do,
for the only Jesus that someone knows
is the Jesus they see in you.

The Ten Most Wanted People

The one who tries to be the right example to every child, rather than talk about it.
The one who has a passion to help, rather than a passion to be helped.
The one who is willing to say, "I was wrong, I'm sorry."
The one who will look at temptation squarely and say, "No."
The one who puts God's business above any other.
The one who throws oneself totally into a project, then give the credit for its success to his helpers.
The one who has a ready smile and a pat on the back for others.
The one who brings his children to church rather than sending them.
The one who can see his own faults before he sees the faults of others.
The one who gives his money, time and talent without thought of return.

GARBAGE TRUCK

How often do you let other people's nonsense change your mood? Do you
let a bad driver, rude waiter, curt boss, or an insensitive employee
ruin your day? Unless you're the Terminator, for an instant you're
probably set back
on your heels. However, the mark of a successful person is how quickly
she can get back her focus on what's important.

Sixteen years ago I learned this lesson. I learned it in the back of a
New York City taxi cab. Here's what happened. I hopped in a taxi, and
we took off for Grand Central Station. We were driving in the right
lane when, all of a sudden, a black car jumped out of a parking space
right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes,
skidded, and missed the other car’s back end by just inches!

The driver of the other car, the guy who almost caused a big accident,
whipped his head around and he started yelling bad words at us. My
taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was
friendly. So,
I said, "Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and
sent us to the hospital!" And this is when my taxi driver told me what
I now call, "The Law of the Garbage Truck."

Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage,
full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As
their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it. And if you let
them, they'll dump it on you. When someone wants to dump on you, don't
take it personally. You just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on.
You'll be happy you did.

So this was it: The "Law of the Garbage Truck.” I started thinking,
how often do I let Garbage Trucks run right over
me? And how often do I take their garbage and spread it to other
people a work, at home, on the streets? It was that day I said, "I'm
not going to do anymore." I began to see garbage trucks.

Like in the movie "The Sixth Sense," the little boy said, "I see Dead
People." Well, now "I see Garbage Trucks." I see the load they're
carrying. I see them coming to drop it off. And like my Taxi Driver, I
don't make it a personal thing; I just smile, wave, wish them well,
and move on.

One of my favorite football players of all time, Walter Payton, did
this every day on the football field. He would jump up as quickly as
he hit the ground after being tackled. He never dwelled on a hit.
Payton was ready to make the next play his best.

Good leaders know they have to be ready for their next meeting. Good
parents know that they have to welcome their children home from school
with hugs and kisses. Leaders and parents know that they have to be
fully present, and at their best for the people they care about. The
bottom line is that successful people do not let Garbage Trucks take
over their day. What about you? What would happen in your life,
starting today, if you let more garbage trucks pass you by? Here's my
bet. You'll be happier. Life's too short to wake up in the morning
with regrets, so.. Love the people who treat you right. Forget about
the ones who don't.

Everybody Knows...

You can't be all things to all people.
You can't do all things at once.
You can't do all things equally well.
You can't do all things better than everyone else.
Your humanity is showing just like everyone else's.

So...

You have to find out who you are, and be that.
You have to decide what comes first , and do that.
You have to discover your strengths, and use them.
You have to learn not to compete with others,
Because no one else is in the contest of "being you".

Then...

You will have learned to accept your own uniqueness.
You will have learned to set priorities and make decisions.
You will have learned to live with your limitations.
You will have learned to give yourself the respect that is due,
And you'll be a being that's vitally alive.

Dare To Believe...

That you are a wonderful, unique person.
That you are a once-in-all-history event.
That it's more than a right, it's your duty, to be who you are.
That life is not a problem to solve, but a gift to cherish.
And you'll be able to stay one up on what used to get you down.

PRAYERS TO JESUS AND MARY FOR MERCY

LORD Jesus Christ, eternal and merciful God,
Creator and Redeemer of all, listen to my prayer.

For the love Thou doth bear to those who ask forgiveness,
look on me with mercy, as once Thou didst look on Mary Magdalen,
and on Peter who denied Thee.

Look on me, Lord Jesus Christ, as Thou didst looked at the thief on his cross
and on every sinner whom Thou hast ever forgiven.

Look on me, merciful Lord, as Thou didst look on Thy Mother, Mary,
standing in sorrow beneath Thy Cross.

Let me feel in my heart her compassion for Thee,
and let my eyes weep for Thy sorrows, caused by my sinful life.

Call me back from the darkness to my Father's house, give me a new heart
and a place at Thy side in the banquet Thou hast prepared for me. Amen.

HAIL, Mary, my joy, my glory, my heart and my soul!
Thou art all mine through thy mercy, and I am all thine.
But I am not thine completely enough.

Destroy in me all that may be displeasing to God.
Place and cultivate in me everything that is pleasing to thee. Amen.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Gloriajean, good news about the twins so one step at a time for them.  I will pray they keep growing and gaining weight. I am sorry about poor Darla and how she is feeling. Prayers are coming for her and that she feels better soon, no hospital visit so she can stay home with her miracles!  I will pray for you too because I would imagine your stress level is high and you too will become exhausted with worry.  Take care of yourself!

Another week of summer school is done and all went well.  Never a dull moment wth the students and I just adore them.  Now, 2 days at the museum.  Nice change of pace.  I would ask for a little pray too if possible.  My financial state is limited and still even after 5 years getting use to hourly pay and not salary.  Well, thought we would have gotten paid today from school and we did not so it will be a little tight and for me, scary for 2 weeks until our next paycheck.  So, just a little pray for my cats and I if you could.  All will be fine so not in trouble but for me this is scary.  No worries though, I know God will move me along, I will tighten the belt here and there and pray!  Thank you.

Ladies, have a blessed day, embrace the miracles in our day and fill this time with joy, love and peace.

Peace, Nancy

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Twins are stressful and exhausting for anyone the first few months and Darla had so many issues beforehand.  Add on to that "baby blues" that sometimes happens. I'll pray for physical healing and the peace that passes all understanding.

Have Darla read your "Everyone Knows..." from today. She is so special and she was picked to be the mother of those twins. Like anything else, someday she'll laugh and remember some of the funny things that happened during this time, even though it's not very funny right now!

Ruby Laine - Thank you for your prayers for Darla, too!  She sure needs physical healing.  I did send that Everyone Knows to her today.

Hope she got to her email.
