I do drive at night but I don't do it nearly as much as I did in the past...when I was younger.
My family lives almost 2 hours away and there are many times throughout the year that we have to attend functions and drive to get there. I don't ever want to go without seeing my children and grandchildren.
We mostly drive to see them during the school year and they come and stay with us a lot in the Summer. We live in a Beach Town so Summer is our time to host the family.
My husband still works over an hour away so he drives every day in the dark. He is not crazy about it when it gets dark early and looks forward to it getting dark later.

Same here. I have wet MD and thankfully no problems driving in the daytime. However, as soon as the sun goes down I feel very compromised and won't take a risk with my own life or anyone else's. I live in a small town with no Uber, Lyft or taxicabs, so I don't attend any events that start or end after sundown.

While perfectly able to drive at night, I just don't. I do whatever I need to do early, and am never out in the evening hours.

I just noticed this topic and I don't drive at night if I can do it during the day. Was diagnosed with Dry AMD last summer. I live where we get a lot of rain and it's so hard to drive on busy roads especially at night. Most times you can't see the line in the middle of the road. I grew up in the NE where we got a lot of snow and never minded driving in the snow. It was easier than driving in the rain all the time. I'm getting a camera to put in my car. People causing accidents and blame the other driver. My daughter has one and so does my grandson. My daughter is getting a permit to carry, she never thought like this but times have changed. I'm thinking about it also.

I conceal carry. Got my permit a couple of years ago but now in Florida it's no longer required. My pistol is either in my bag or the center console of the car. Either way I feel much safer than I used to.

I only drive locally at night. I am not afraid of the dark or feel unsafe, but I can't see.
When I was a child, my paternal aunts all used to hightail home before it got dark because they couldn't see to drive at night. I had eight aunts.
My cousins and I used to always laugh about that. Well, it happened to us too. Most of the females on my father's side...aunts and cousins have night blindness.
I mentioned it to my eye doctor. He examined my eyes and asked me to bring in a few of my cousins to compare.
What he found is that our eyes reacted to light by restricting the pupil as they should. But then, they did not dilate and get bigger when the light was dim. We had a long delay, a way too long delay.
He said it was probably an inherited thing among the females in my family.
Now my daughter is having the same issue as well as her daughter.
Both my husband and our sons have no difficulty seeing in the dark.
So, I am mostly grounded after dark from the highways. I hate these new LED lights on cars and trucks. They blind me.

I hardly ever go out at night these days. Its crazy when I think back about how my friends and I would run the streets and go places and stay out until 2 or 3 in the morning lol! The only time I am out at night now is if I have been to my families and am leaving to go home after dark. It is not anything I like doing now is driving at night!
