Re: Consignment stores-what a joke

@amyb When we cleaned out my dad's house, we knew we were going to sell it. Our time was so limited as to selling or donating furniture. We ended up selling it partially furnished including appliances.

It was an accidential selling point. The home sold quickly to a first time home buyer.

Glad it worked out quickly for you~a blessing not to have to try to do that for a long while!

My mom was still alive and well and in assisted living when we did this. (Dad had passed 17 years previously) So it was a combination of keeping what was precious to her, what she still could use in her new place, what she wanted to pass to me, and then all the rest was distributed. We sold it with the appliances too.

We were fortunate as we'd had an interested buyer for a few years (grew up in the neighborhood, brother nextdoor to us, and parents still one block over), who wanted to move back to their old neighborhood. They also had time, didn't have to sell their home first, and let us take our time to get the home ready for them. I'm thankful things worked that way when we needed it to.

It was quite a "sentimental journey" for me unearthing 46 years of living, including some of my childhood. I just took it step by step by step, and was happy to be able to give some furniture and other items to friends that needed some things, as well as donate elsewhere too.
