I'm older and swear by ASICS sneakers (especially the Kayano gel) and Ecco. I figured out what styles and toe boxes fit and these are all I wear.

You don't need the most recent version of ASICS Kayano. Previous styles are often on sale at many places including ASICS website.

Ecco is expensive but they last forever. I'm currently wearing some that are 7 years old and still have good arches and soles. I can often find them on sale.

@CalminHeart

Where do you find the Ecco shoes on sale?  I just discovered a style that works for me and I'd like to pick up another color or two.

My first pair was an Amazon purchase and the price was waaay less than Dillards, where I originally tried them on. But it would be good to know where else I might find them at a sale price

The last pair I bought were $180 on Ecco's website and $99 at Amazon. They were authentic Ecco. I've also found some at NordstromRack and Macy's though their sales are fewer.

Ecco has a huge sale going on right now. us.ecco.com.

Thanks @CalminHeart .  I have a pair from Amazon that fit well, but when I ordered the same style in a second color it didn't fit the same.  The arch was higher - uncomfortably so.

I found the sale on the Ecco website a couple of days ago and ordered that same style and color again. It's supposed to be delivered tomorrow, which would be amazingly fast, considering that yesterday was a holiday.  It's good to know that Macy's has sales on Ecco as well.
