@Othereeeen : Yes - anything easy to slip on and wash. I use a walker and wear Crocs but I understand that style isn't for everyone.

@mspatmac : I have a question about this shoe. Would person need good balance to slip or step in the shoe?

Sketchers SLIP INS, not slips ons allow one to put on easily with no ties or bending over at all.  I find them supportive enough and very comfortable. Good stability for Mom.

I'm a fan of the UGG Ansley slipper.  It's comfy, can go inside or out, and no problems with traction.  You can also get replacement insoles.  Compared to Sketchers, these are much more comfortable IMO.  I wear half size, so I sized up.  I have three different colors.

@SouthernBee

The shoes can also be slipped in while sitting or in your Moms case using the walker.

When I was recovering from ankle surgery and using a walker I wore Propet shoes.  Their Travel Active line has a mary jane style that was comfy and they also have a leather one (Onalee?) that was comfortable.

I'm older and swear by ASICS sneakers (especially the Kayano gel) and Ecco. I figured out what styles and toe boxes fit and these are all I wear.

You don't need the most recent version of ASICS Kayano. Previous styles are often on sale at many places including ASICS website.

Ecco is expensive but they last forever. I'm currently wearing some that are 7 years old and still have good arches and soles. I can often find them on sale.

Alegria has some very comfortable shoes.  I have terrible flat footed feet with other problems as well.  A very nice shoesalesman (old school) fittted me with Alegria Sprite and the Duette syles.  The Sprite and Joleen version are very similar and very comfortable.  Hope this helps.
