I have been lamenting the fact that I simply cannot decorate my home like I want. None of my nativity sets can be put out. No tree or Knick knacks or hanging decorations. Our eighteen mos old cat, Stanley Cup, is too rambunctious and "naughty". He will destroy everything. What to do....aha! He doesn't bother the coffee mugs on the mug tree. So I ordered several Christmasy themed mugs. Seeing them in the kitchen and using them will feel festive. Also a couple of beautiful holiday wreaths for the front door. He can't get those, lol. Have to be a creative thinker to work around this busy boycat 😉😍

Love him so much ❤️

@smoochy - As someone whose lived with cats my entire life, I can empathize.

I gave up putting up my trees and other decorations years ago.  The two older cats I had when we first built this house (over 20 years ago) were okay.  They'd bat at the lower ornaments, so I always put non-breakable ones on the bottom of the tree.

But mostly they just loved to curl up on the tree skirt and sleep.

But the cats I've had since then?  Not so much.  I have two pre-lit wreaths that I place on the inside doors (plus a real wreath outside) and that's about it on the decorating front.  I have a beautiful nativity set that hasn't seen the light of day in years.

But I'm thinking I might try to put out a bit more this year!  Wish me luck.  Woman Wink

Love his name!  I'm sure you've seen the photo of the Christmas tree hanging from the ceiling for cat parents.  That's a funny idea but I haven't figured out how you could actually do that.

you totally understand 😊 my nativities are one of a kind hand made sets from around the world. Gifts from my daughter's travels. So a big no on displaying those. I hadn't thought of a pre-lit wreath. Did you buy them from QVC?
What items are you thinking of putting out this year?

@smoochy - Both of my wreaths are from QVC.  Bethlehem Lights; the one they did last year and the one that was a recent TSV this year.  H425677.  I got the green, but it seems only the blue spruce is left.

I had one from several years ago, but the on/off switch broke and it never occurred to me to just use the remote before I tossed it.

So I replaced that one last year.  Liked it so much I decided to buy another to put in the living room area.

I'm thinking I'll put up a small pre-lit tree (non-breakable ornaments) and see how it goes.  And, if I can find somewhere safe to set out my Nativity, I'll do that, too.  I'll just try to keep it simple.

I have tons of Joan Rivers beautiful Faberge-inspired glass ornaments, but sadly they all stay in their cases for the time being.  Our home is open-plan, so not much chance to keep the cats away from anything shiny.

I'm sorry but I can't relate.  I have 5 cats and the only thing they do is go under the tree to sleep.  Once in a while I'll get a bat at the ornament at the bottom of the tree, but all I have to do is say NO and they run away.  I guess I am very lucky to have had some good cats. (I said some)  I don't worry about any decorations or decor except on the kitchen table.  They sit on it and like to look outside. (we don't eat on that table)

Our cat used to crawl in the garbage bag when we were picking up wrapping and trash after gifts were open.  Lord help anyone who happened to brush by the bag or start to put something in it.

Those claws would pop out from inside the bag and dig in!  People would always be saying "Don't go near that bag!  That cat's in there!" I don't know how he saw out of that bag or managed to shoot his claws through any spot on it like lightening.  Everyone we knew gave that cat a wide berth.

I understand. I can only decorate my mantle. My babies can’t make that big jump all at once. Do you have a bakers rack or anything high up that maybe you could put a pretty garland on?

I have three cats ages 18, 5 and 3 and last year none of them bothered anything on the tree. All they did was sleep under it. I admit I was worried about it but they pretty much just ignored the tree.
