Re: Checking In with "Soap" Friends

GH Jay And Joey Clay’s (Ace Cassidine) Mom Dealing With Addison Disease Crisis

Dorothy Gass

General Hospital: Jay And Joey Clay

General Hospital news suggest sometimes life can imitate art as little actors Jay and Joey Clay (Ace Cassadine) are dealing with some sad family news.

Their mom, Lana Clay, recently revealed on social media that she’s been hospitalized and diagnosed with Addison’s Disease, among other health issues...

Not posting the entire article but thought some might want to know about this. If you believe in prayer say one for this young mother.

Re: Checking In with "Soap" Friends

@Tique @grandma r @Coquille @Wsmom Hi everyone, it's been a while!  This popped up in recent posts & I wanted to take a moment to say hi to all of you and all of our other soap friends that I didn't call out on this post.

Almost the end of February - yay! Getting thru another winter is a good thing.  We had so much rain and then when it got cold here in PA, it snowed!  I'm still taking care of my brother so having snow blocking the driveway made me anxious.  I have a 4 wheel drive Tacoma so I was able to get out. One of the local farmers saw me shoveling at the end of my brother's driveway and he stopped with his front end loader and cleared the bottom for me so if I needed to I could get the car out by getting the front wheels up on the clear pavement. My brother's driveway is more like a farm lane - not short! the farmer came back with his tractor and scraped it for me too.  I was so grateful for the help.

Other than that, my brother is holding his own. Still on the feeding tube but I've added more real food (he came home only able to eat yogurt & applesauce). I talked to a dietitian at Thanksgiving and she said there wasn't any reason he couldn't eat real food so long as it was the same consistency as yogurt and was careful. So I made chicken pot pie and ran it thru the blender; then I made some roast beef and ran that thru the blender & served it with mashed potatoes. He tolerated it just fine. He still can't manage liquids but if he can eat real food, this should help him get stronger.

Personally I'm doing fine. Still working full time, helping my brother and trying not to lose my mind. LOL My last checkup (2nd year after breast cancer treatment) was thankfully all good. I don't know why I stressed over this one so much but I did so was very grateful to have everything be OK.

I think of all of you and miss chatting with you. Take care, be well

Gina

Re: Checking In with "Soap" Friends

@GinaV24 , how wonderful that that farmer cleared that for you!   These acts of kindness and help from neighbors and friends are such a godsend.

So glad to see an update on your brother.  The chicken pot pie and roast beef and mashed potatoes sound like very tasty blender options ....blended but not a huge change from how they would normally be served.  And filling.

So glad to hear your last checkup was good!!!  What a relief.  Do make that extra effort to take care of yourself.  I know how hard that can be.  When DH was on hospice that was something the social worker covered, the importance of the caretaker taking care of themselves.  He said when he went into this line of work he was shocked to see the statistics for the percentage of caregivers who end up worse off than the person they are caring for.

Continued prayers for you and your brother!!!

@GinaV24. Lovely to hear from you.  There are kind people in this crazy world.   Happy to hear your checkup went well and that your brother is doing a bit better.

We may be taking baby steps, but, moving forward is a good thing.  Continued prayers for you both.

Rena Sofer/Lois has been downgraded from Contract to Recurring. Truthfully I didn't care enough when she returned to look into what her Status was but now she has grown on me. Even though she tends to meddle into things that are not her business I still find her more tolerable than Olivia and a few more who will remain nameless.

On that note I always liked Eva LaRue on AMC but similar to the way I didn't see the need to dive into Chase's family history [with Jackie and Gregory], I feel the same about Blaze's family. Therefore I hope Ms LaRue's stay will be as brief as her other former ABC soap stars, Jackson Montgomery and Blair.

Note to new Writers: PLEASE Please please stop bringing in all these unnecessary people and start using the ones who are already entrenched in the history of this show. Rant over...

@GinaV24   as others have already stated it is so good to hear that things are continuing to improve for you and your brother. I have seen your posts in other forums and took those as a sign that the above was true.

I love that you take the initiative to move past the people who are directly responsible for your brother's medical care to come up with other solutions and more viable choices.  So happy for you.

Remembering Shell...

(The one and only true Nurse Amy)

On this day in 2008, an in memoriam message was shown at the end of the episode for Shell Kepler, who had passed away on February 1, 2008. Shell played Amy Vining from 1979-2002.

Re: Checking In with "Soap" Friends

@Tique Thoughts for today.

You know that the only reason Jagger missed that punch is because Sonny is so short! 😝

Oh Saint Sonny was such a good friend to Stone. Self praise stinks, and stop tooting your own horn.
He has such an inflated ego as Maurice and Sonny, and it shows.

That cross tattoo he has looks like jail art work. Really bad.

I wonder if he ever did time? 😝 You would think with all his $ he would either get it redone or removed.

In that dress, BLQ a looked like she may be pregnant IRL!
