You have my deep sympathy for your bankng problem,  I have had my Credit Card/Debit Card & my Bank acct hacked twice in 5 mos.  It is very violating & difficult to have to start fresh with new cards, new Ck. accts etc.  The latest was an internal problem within my bank when  it was found to be a Member to Member fund transfer.  That was the last straw & I have since changed banks.  I urge you to register with Experian, Equifax & Transunion  & they will monitor your accts & you can freeze your Credit.  I also filed a report with the FTC & rec'd  a Pin# from SS to lock my SS#.  I also filed a report with my local Police Dept.  Fortunately I was able to stop them & did not lose any funds. I also now have a 3rd party Authentication on my Acct's where you have to receive a code to get into your acct's.  After all this I'm sure these "Crooks" will find away to infiltrate my acct's but these precautions will slow them down & my Acct's are now flagged for any suspicious activity.  I have closed all my Store Credit Cards & monitor my Bank acct's online daily & chg. passwords weekly.  Also your Bank should give you a Verbal Password when you call them so they can make sure who is calling.  I know this is alot but necessary to keep ahead of these "Crooks"!  Make sure you have a good antivirus program on your PC & if necessary have your PC checked & cleaned for any Malware.  Good Luck!  p.s ask your Bank to overnite you the Cards w/o chg if you need them sooner then 8-10 days.

I only use a debit card for occasional ATM withdrawals.

Otherwise,  Debit is Deadly.

I make all non cash purchases with a credit card for the consumer protections and the lucrative rewards program.

I don't use my debit card to shop, only ATM. Credit card is safer way for me, I believe.

We have ATM cards but they are not debit cards.

@Pezzie.  My debit card is protected exactly the same as my credit card.  I use it for everything.  I hate running up debt on my credit cards.  I'd rather it be taken out of my bank account on the spot and I never have to think about it again.

I gave up using my debit card for routine purchases after it was breached for the third time within a few months.  I do not have that same issue with the CC and I receive a generous $ reward once a year.

I only use the debit card at a discount grocery store that requires using it or cash.

I also rarely use my debit card.  I don't like any merchant having a direct link to my checking account.

What a way to start my Sunday.  I got a call from my bank regarding a suspicious charge of $198 ony debit card.  I didn't purchase anything for that amount.  They denied payment and then cancelled my debit card.  Tomorrow I'll go to the bank and get another one.  It' will probably take a week before I get the replacement.  That's what I think anyway.  So aggravating because I'll have to change my debit card on all my accounts.  I'm thankful that my bank is so diligent.  Usually when I get a call about a suspicious charge, it really is legitimate.

Yikes!  Been there, done that.

In a short period of time, I had suspicious transaction attempts on my debit card and it had to be replaced TWICE.

BOTH times it was triggered after I made a legitimate purchase at Target!

Although I already was doing this most of the time, i was reminded to ALWAYS use my other hand to cover my hand entering my PIN number.

Reason?   Those cameras overhead ... the ones that look like little black balls on the ceiling .... record your transactions, including entering of the PIN numbers.

Shady security people can view and record all your information from the film, as well as your PIN!

Sorry that happened @chrystaltree. I never use debit, I use CC's for everything & the cash back from CC's+the cash back from sites like Rakuten really adds up. I average about $50+ cash back every month just on my CC's & I pay the balances off every month too ...for me, it's better than cash.

Due to Federal law, credit cards offer more protection against consumer fraud than debit cards do.  You can check with any of the 3 credit services (Experian, Transunion, or Equifax) for more info about this.
