Re: CRAZY CHRISTMAS EVE WEATHER

@Shanus Feral (wild) cats normally avoid humans, but will take food (on their own terms, of course!).  However, my friend has mastered a way to get those she feeds to trust her.  She has managed to socialize the one she brought into her home and she is absolutely devoted to him.  (You would not believe her vet bills)!  She also tries to capture feral cats and take them for neutering when possible.

Re: CRAZY CHRISTMAS EVE WEATHER

So far, NC has had mild winters the last several years...a few ice storms, but that was it. I wore my winter coats a half dozen times each season and was plenty warm w/ a leather jacket or long, BD type cardigan.

Of course, now that I've said it, we can have the storm of the century ahead. Our worst weather is usually in February and March, so we'll see what happens.

Re: CRAZY CHRISTMAS EVE WEATHER

@MoonieBaby We take care of four feral cats--fixed--by the DC Animal Rescue Alliance (think that's the name or close) that does the catch and release program and Significant Other and I have the same kind of housing set up that you do and have made warm, safe places for two of the four cats who take advantage of them and live in our back yard.

The other two are much more shy and although they "dine" in our yard they keep much more distance from us and the pair of black and whites who are buddies to each other.  Not sure where they sleep.  I think they make the rounds of the other feline lovers in our block.

@Krimpette Am absolutely enjoying the milder temps--not a fan of winter and not interested in a huge electric bill from Pepco.  Plus I enjoy walking and since we have not yet had the ice/sleet thing occur yet this year I haven't had to use my new winter boots  from Zulily or YakTrax that slip over a flat soled boot or shoe.

Warm Holiday Wishes to All . . ..
