Re: CRAZY CHRISTMAS EVE WEATHER

@MoonieBaby  I have a close friend in Baltimore who does similarly for "her" feral cats!  She ultimately adopted one into her home and she's devoted to him.  Right now, she has two regulars.  She does her best to provide shelter for them in the cold, cold weather.  Some months ago, she created a "villa" for a female feral that she had grown to love.  As it turned out, someone must have adopted her, because she left one day never to return.  Bless you who take care of feral cats.

@Kachina624 :  More rain than snow and it's currently not sticking.  Supposed to really snow starting tonight. Merry Christmas!

@Krimpette    I'm a dog person & not up on cats. Can someone please explain about a feral cat? Wild, can't tame it enough to get it to come inside out of the cold, be fed, etc.?

That's my definition @Shanus . We just say they are wild, but the ones by me must eat birds and baby bunnies, because they are fat.

@AuntG   Ewwh! Sad for the birds and bunnies. Not great for the cats either.

Re: CRAZY CHRISTMAS EVE WEATHER

Krimpette,

So kind of your friend in Baltimore.

Your words are sweet to hear in regards to us Feral Friends.

My patio is truly Matthew's sanctuary.

He adores my housecat Shadow - they play through the screen door.

Although he does not allow any touching - he comes to his name, he plays with the multitude of toys and catip I put out for him, and my husband just put up a RING doorbell surveillance system in the back so we can keep our eyes on him day and night.

He means as much to us as our own cat.

Our neighbors on the alley KNOW HE'S MY HEART and keep their eyes out for him too.

I also feed squirrels and birds (we have a cinderblock fence in the back by the alley).

The fence has a big bowl of water for the birds and squirrels, Smucker's Natural Chunky Peanut Butter/Organic Coconut chunks I slice and HoneyCrisp apples I cut up. All of this stuff is on a few paper plates along with Steel Cut Oats (Pigeons love all of the stuff but go crazy for the oats).

Matthew leaves them alone.  To my mind homeless animals are less stressed if they are WELL FED!

Maybe because I'm an Italian Jew - I FEED EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING IN MY PATH!!!!!

AMEN.

Re: CRAZY CHRISTMAS EVE WEATHER

I am on Long Island and yesterday (Christmas Eve) was very mild for us.  It was close to 50 degrees.  It was extremely sunny too!  Today will be partly cloudy and go up to 44 degrees.  I'm going to have a house full of people today.  I'm assuming I'll be turning down the heat and opening up a few windows. I'm going to be running around like crazy from the moment my kids wake up until everything walks out the door tonight.  No need to be a hot mess! lol

Re: CRAZY CHRISTMAS EVE WEATHER

We had temps in the 50s and it's supposed to be in the high 50s or low 60s here today.  I love it.  It's so much better than a foot of snow, high winds, and cold temps.  The sad part is that our climate keeps changing and those in power won't do anything to help reduce the human impact.
