Do you feel overwhelmed with emails and just say watching the commercials and shopping channels to rush, rush, rush, last minute deals?  It's making me feel so anxious that I get overwhelmed with anxiety.

@nana59 I don't mean knowing what to buy ... just the whole pressure to buy thing in general.  I don't even have any gifts to buy, I just give my son and daughter money.   That's all I have to buy for.

Re: Black Friday Shopping

[ Edited ]

The entire hustle and bustle is exciting for me. The rest of the year is so "dead" or maybe, it's that Fall and the Christmas season are my favorite times of the year.

I understand retailers are trying to survive, so I don't mind when they try to get me to buy.  It's during this time they offer the most interesting products and clothing.

However, some QVC hosts present such a sense of urgency that's more likely to cause me to stop watching then it does get me to buy.  When I begin to feel anxious and uncomfortable, it's time to change the channel.

I just ignore all the hype.  I don't want or need a thing and don't buy gifts so they're not speaking to me.

No.   I mute my TV when I have to.  I delete emails without opening them.  I scroll past ads in social media.  I'm watching much less on shopping channels because my shopping for Christmas is over.  You are an adult, you have total control of this.

I don't feel overwhelmed at all.  I like the excitement of it all, the food, the decorations!

Just wait, you'll be bored to tears in January when the TSV is another treadmill, LOL!

Now that's depressing!

It doesn't bother me.  i just delete the e-mails and throw out the mail with coupons without even opening them.

I only buy a few gifts for my friend who is in a nursing facility and one other older women and everyone else gets cash.  I do donations online.  I plan to send many boxes of disposal diapers to the Salvation Army like I did last year.  Walmart delivered them. Easy Peasy.

It does get overwhelming to me. Everything looks so great. I buy early so as not to be anxious when it gets closer to Christmas and I fear not having a gift for someone or at least not having the "right" gift. As it turns out, I feel that way anyway because it seems something better than what I purchased shows up in an email, catalog or online or on the shopping channels! Then I buy more. All the bombardment of "buy me buy me buy me" does just what is supposed to do to many of us. And then there are all the charities looking for donations , which I completely understand. It is that time of year. Too much food, too many presents, too much decor. But I still enjoy it.

Isn't that the truth?  They push all these goodies on us in November and December, then tell us to take it off our hips in January.
