Re: Bird's Nest for May, 2018

@mousiegirl

Glad to hear that you have stopped working in the sun at certain times of the day.  I was like you years ago and out there no matter what digging, weeding, pruning and planting not to mention watering until we got an irrigation system.  Having had Melanoma skin cancer and a bad back I no longer do any gardening.  I did prune the shrubs here a few weeks ago and it felt great to be doing that again.  I helped DH plant the flower pots also and enjoyed that.  I miss gardening a lot!

The teeter table sounds interesting.  I will definitely look into it and also check with my doctor to see if I can use one with a severed vertebrae.  Thanks for mentioning it to me and so glad to hear that it helps your DH.  My DH rarely admits when I am right also.  He just looks at me and smiles when I mention it to him...lol.

Glad to hear that you keep in touch with your DD through email!

We are adjusting nicely in our new condo.  We had all of our slides converted to cd's and had our DD and her boyfriend and my sis and BIL over to view some of them.

I hope that you also have a nice summer!

@Winifred

We will be getting together soon with our neighbor once she is back from Cary, NC.  She usually returns here in NH around the end of May but this year she will be returning in mid June.  She loves it in Cary and one of her sons went to college in NC and remained there and lives now in Raleigh so he frequently visits him mother in Cary.  His girlfriend is from NC.

I am glad to hear that you have such fond memories of Cary.

@Bird mama

We have not had a chance to enjoy our new deck yet because it has been cold and rainy since it was completed but today it is to be nice so hopefully today we will get out there and enjoy it.

I am glad that you are at peace with lossing Poppi.  I like you am certain that he is in heaven and he has been restored.

If you get a chance try a hummingbird feeder.  Place it close to the house and also make sure that the feeder has perches so that they can hang around longer and you can view them.  I know you will get a lot of enjoyment from seeing them.

How cute that Presto has bonded with you since your being home all day.

She sounds so sweet!  You are a great mama!!!  I hope that you had a great weekend!

Whoa is was hotter than it should have been this past weekend.  I'm talking low to mid 90's Woman Surprised  It's going to be in the upper 80's today and I have grass that has to be cut today.  Here's a picture of one of my squirrels, taken this past Friday.   Poor baby was trying to cool off by splaying out like roadkill on the patio.

Another favorite destination is the Plow & Hearth solar light I bought from the Q last year.

Re: Bird's Nest for May, 2018

Had to chuckle at the pictures of Conrad - what a life.  Was trying to remember what I did with the stairs I bought for Conrad to use to get up into my bed. The memory cells sure decline do they not? I suspect I donated it to YAPS as they were in great shape as I had gotten him a new set of stairs not long before I lost him. Have three HUGE bottles of Chlorox I got at Sam's in the trunk of my car to take to YAPS, perhaps today as they put out a SOS for it. They operate strictly on donations - they receive absolutely no $$$ any other way and there are times they start hitting the bottom of the barrel on many things. Such a fantastic organization and the lady who started it was also top caliber. Betty and her husband Jim, who was the last Constable we ever had must be smiling down at us. Quite a pair.

Another warm day in line for today and then cool weather again. Oh well. Feeders are plumb empty and I need to try and work up some energy to get them refilled.

Have a great day everyone.

@Bird mama  How adorable!  I have a picture of a squirrel on a branch of my Cedar tree all fours hanging over the sides, LOL, on a blazing hot day.  I will get it from My Perennials thread and post it here. Smiley Happy

@mousiegirl  If I would have known how much the squirrels and birds would end up liking the plow & hearth solar tree stump, I would have bought multiples for all over the yard.

@Bird mama  I don't know if this is the same black squirrel, but the picture was taken the same year, eating a rose flower off of my 32' high climber.

@Bird mama  If you want to see the birds and critters of my garden, I can bring up the thread, you can just skip by the flowers, lol.
