Best wishes to Ron as he undergoes hernia repair. Prayers that the outcome is favorable.
My weather is glorious today. I wore a short sleeved t-shirt when I went grocery shopping. I am going to have a quick nibble for lunch and then we cut the grass for the first time this season.
My dog Max has been on the other side of the rainbow bridge since September 2008, however I cannot help but think of him every time I cut the grass for the first time each season. Max was the type of dog who supervised yard work.
When I would walk the mower down one long row of the backyard, he would lay down the next row over as if to remind me where I should be going next. I'll see him in my mind's eye today, keeping me on track :-)

Afternoon All, hope it's a good day for everyone. Not much going on here but the weather is glorious so yard time it is. Will see what I can leave by the back fence, Hostess cup cakes anyone, I know but I do love them, will also leave some cold milk.
Enjoy

You are going to think I need my head examined, lol.
Do you have small white butterflies in your part of the country? When I was a child, they were all over the place. Later, in my 30's, I noticed they were around again and when Max was outside in the yard one or two would fly around him.
I used to tease Max and say he drew butterflies to him because he smelled so sweet. Anyway, after Max died, whenever I would see a white butterfly I would say, hey Max :-)
I don't have anything flowering in my back yard. My poor forsythia shrub is finally starting to green up. As I was cutting the grass, I stopped to empty the bagger attachment (about midway done with the yard). All of a sudden, a small white butterfly (I'm sure it wasn't a moth, lol) flitted around and I said, hey Max and it flew off.
I knew he would be supervising the first mowing of the season.

@Bird mama Hi - I am new to this site. What is Back Fence? Thanks ![]()

Hello katte and Welcome to the Q Community.
The Back Fence is a thread that was started by women long before I came to post in the Community several years ago. I can't speak to how the original posters or other posters 'see' this fence. I imagine it as a winding wooden fence that goes all over the country and connects us.
I don't know how young you are, I am 53 going on 54. In my day, my mother's day and her mother's day, neighbors often chatted over the back fence (backyard fence). I most often would see it when hanging laundry on the clothesline or puttering in the garden. Primarily women, but I've also seen men, would chat with their neighbors across the fence after chores.
So me and the women here who came before me, meet up here to chat at the Back Fence.

@Bird mama Today, I saw a small white butterfly with pale yellow wings, unless it was a moth.

@Bird mama Thanks for the info and a lot of fun. I am 69 and have been retired for four years. I love to cook and bake. I am into photography and birds are my thing! Of course gardening is a lot of fun too. This is a cute idea for a site. ![]()

If you like Birds, lol, we also have a monthly thread called the Bird's Nest. Again, I joined when it was established. I don't know all the background on that one, but in October 2013, I got the crazy idea to post a bird of the day. Short of repeating one or two favorites, like a Cardinal, I haven't repeated a bird.
Some of the ladies who post at the Back Fence thread also post on the Birds Nest thread. I try not to post the exact same thing daily but I work full time and it depends on how rushed I am.
There is no pressure on either thread. Some days we post more than others. Some posters have gone the way of the wind from either circumstance or when the forums went through an overhaul in June 2015.

Hi Katte - glad to see you. Hope you come back again.
I filled the feeders Sunday and what a multitude of feathered ones I have - feeders probably empty again. LOL. And it is very HOT here - go figure. As usual, however, mornings and evenings, still very cool. Oh yes, it got to 86 yesterday. Kitties were outside in their condo. They would have preferred inside but it is also good for them.
My legs bothered me yesterday, never have had that happen before and I think perhaps I am missing too many exercises - errands, etc have controlled my existence the past couple weeks. Hope to get there this morning and better yet, hope I am up to using the treadmill - that certainly has been good for me.
Hope one and all have a great day!! Only thing I have to leave is some great bagels, cinnamon and raisin and coffee. Dig in.
