Summer is months of torture! Extreme heat, humidity, sweat, bugs, expensive lawn mowing and staying inside. Living my life right because only hell is hotter... ![]()

Move to N.E. and then tell us how much you love the middle of the winter when it gets dark at 4pm and the temps have been single digits for 11 days in a row and there is 30 inches of snow on the ground and they announced a third blizzard is heading our way. We all have our weather issues but the fact is, we choose to live where we live. We just have to make the best of it.

@chiclet wrote:It is probably because I live in Florida. The heat and humidity is so unbearable that you cannot get outside without being miserable and then the mosquitos are just awful. From April to November is awful. Growing up July, August and September were the bad months but now it is a longer stretch. I wish I could move.
——. I sympathize. Heat, humidity, BUGS, terrible hurricanes.
I cant imagine ever living in Florida. Why do you🤪
The beaches are beautiful, there are lots of fun laces, but, it wouldn’t be enough for me!

I love summer, I don't love the high heat and humidity even though summer's are short where I live.

Living in the middle of the country around green, rolling hills and lakes -- l love summer. Here's my thoughts - Winter = January. Spring = Feb / March. Summer = April - October. Fall = November & December. A girl can dream. And I can travel south in January....

Live in central West Michigan, about an hour from Lake Michigan. Our summer has been hotter than normal with over 18 90 degree days, and the high humidity is coming back this coming Sunday. I love spending as much time as possible on our enclosed patio, but that’s just not possible when the dew points are in the high 60s or low 70s (even with a fan running).
There’s nothing to do but turn on the AC (grateful to have it). We have a 3 day lull now with very pleasant temps so we are grateful for the reprieve but long for fall. Just heard the local weather dude say that the 90 day temp outlook is for warmer than normal in our area. Bummer.

@chrystaltree sounds like a dream to me.....I love winter and will take it over any summer day!
and you know what else I hate even more than summer? When we are in the midst of summer and talk about fall/winter holidays and people are told not to "wish" their life away, but yet when winter comes around, it's okay to talk of the upcoming spring and want the winter days gone... that's my favorite

I love, love summer. It's my favorite season. I love the heat and high humidity. I love boating and swimming and growing a veggie and flower garden. I love eating summer's bounty of red ripe tomatoes and sweet corn..yummy.
This summer was way too wet. It rained too much which spoiled a lot of fun activities and caused a lot of floods and washed out bridges and roads. We are still battling floods in my area of PA.
i can't wait for the rain to stop and dry weather to gift us some nice weather before summer is gone.
i hope we do not get a wet winter with three or morefeet of snow at a time, ice and slippery roads causing the schools and business to close. I hate winter. It's cold, dark, dank and dangerous...and too expensive to keep warm.

@Biftu wrote:I hate summer too! I hate sweating and the heat just makes me lazy and cranky. I feel for you living in Florida, I just couldn't live in the south. Wish I could spend summers in Alaska or Canada. Hurry up fal/winter.
I hate summer too & would love to live in AK for June - August. I am hoping for nice weather in the NE. My DH and I are going to visit our ds and ddil, leaving next Wed. for 3 weeks. Can't wait to go to the beach.

@2blonde We have more things in common . . . well from a long time ago! My husband, son and I lived in Shaker Heights, OH for three years in the late 1970's. We loved living there! Best transfer of many.
The massive amounts of snow were surprising. We thought Nebraska received a lot; were we in for a different kind of winter! Not nearly as bitterly cold (biting wind chills as Nebraska), but that snow effect certainly kept the snow coming down. We had (stupidly) purchased a gorgeous, large three-story colonial. My husband worried about the weight of the snow building up on the roof (he saw neighbors doing this, too) that he would climb out the third floor dormer windows and shovel it off the roof!! I was sure it would slide down when it was good and ready. That house was built in 1907 and had withstood a lot more snowstorms that we had!! He wasn't buying my theory; I was positive he was going to make me an early widow that wouldn't find her husband until the late spring thaws. ![]()
We loved the Aquarium in Cleveland. Is it still there and an amazing attraction? Do the tall sailing ships continue to draw large crowds each summer. We enjoyed shopping in the "oldest enclosed shopping mall" in downtown Cleveland . . . it was gorgeous at Christmas and had some very expensive boutiques at the time. Traffic was awful so we always took the Rapid downtown, which was an exciting (and new) experience for us! There were some new, innovative Jazz venues at the time in an attempt to help bolster Cleveland Heights/University Heights which we often attended (complete with dinner and program) for a reasonable price + drinks if memory serves me correctly. My son went to a wonderful Montessori pre-school, which parents each "volunteered" a couple of times a month to help with the tuition and so everybody knew all kids in the class. It was such an enjoyable life. Spring would arrive and everything was so green and lush!!
We had lived in IA, IL, and PA before moving to OH. Family and friends had visited us in all our new locations. Every place was "fine" except PA . . . everyone hated Pittsburg! It was dirty and the roads were horrible. There were no arts/entertainment venues or really nice restaurants or places for dining and dancing. We begged for a transfer from PA! It was the best move ever. Our family and friends had heard about the Cuyahoga River burning (who hasn't?) and thought we were crazy. Of course, that just encouraged them to come see for themselves! They also fell in love with the entire Cleveland area; so much to do and see. Great place to vacation. Lake Erie was always a huge attraction. Easy to reach from anywhere in the US. It was a win-win.
Thanks for the memories!
