Me. I do not like summer.

I don't hate summer, however, I have found the weather since mid July to be depressing. It has either been so hot and humid that you just couldn't be outside or it's been raining. It rains for days on end, coming down in buckets. So, instead of being outside and enjoying sunny days, we've been stuck inside. I am hoping for a nice Fall season!

No - I love summer, and spring and fall. It's so humid in St. Louis in the summer, but that's the way it is. I'd rather see my patio flowers blooming, sitting on my patio, the hummingbirds at my feeders and not having to wear heavy coats, sweaters and boots! I don't like the heat and humidity here, but it's better than dealing with snow, cold and ice!

From April to November is awful. Growing up July, August and September were the bad months but now it is a longer stretch. I wish I could move.
@chiclet I’ve never liked heat & humidity. I just don’t do well/feel well. If possible, I’d hibernate in reverse and not come out until October. Lol.

No, I do not hate summer! Those of us who live in areas where it's cold and lousy most of the year, look forward to the little bit of warm weather we receive. Our spring this years was terrible. It was cold, rainy, and even snowy. Now our summer is nearly over and we have hardly had any warm weather and it has rained more days than not. So depressing! I am not one who likes to roast or be overly hot, but to just have the warm sun and be able to be outside and walk around and sit on the patio --- we so look forward to it! And now, winter will be here before we know it. And it's so, so long! Winter brings a whole host of problems which is really hard to deal with when you are a senior citizen with a host of health issues to boot!

I can honestly say that I've never heard of anyone hating summer until I began reading these boards. Everyone I have ever known or talked to absolutely loves the summer months! But I feel its because its where you live. Here, where I live, summers are magical! Perfect weather, lots to do, lots of people bustling around... I love jumping in my little classic boat and motor around my lake. I love taking my morning walks where I'm sure to see deer and wild horses. Yes, I said its magical where I live! I'm already starting to get depressed because its nearing the end of August and moving closer to the cold, snowy, frigid weather of winter. Ugh.

ME!
I'd enjoy about a month of it, but here in the SW it lasts most of the year. I guess some people think that's ideal, but I'm not one of them. I'm glad that school starts early August for me, so I get to go back to work and at least pretend that the summer has ended.

@BirkiLady Oh, thanks so much for your wonderful reply about living in Shaker Heights, OH! Your note actually brought back some fond memories for me also. I was actually born and raised in Kirtland, which is a small city just NE of Shaker. I've been to Shaker many times, and it definitely is a beautiful, "old money" kind of area. I moved to the larger city of Mentor (just north of Kirtland) in 1991, and I'm now only about 2-3 miles from the lake. I can ride my bike to the local beach.
Lots of the old attractions you remember are still here, but you'd probably be shocked to see how the downtown Cleveland area has changed. There is a casino, great shopping, entertainment, sports, the Rock-n-roll Hall of Fame. and lots of exclusive housing. It's become quite fashionable for the younger folks to both live and work in the downtown area.
Mentor is a great place about 20 miles east of Cleveland. It's a good size city with tons of shopping and restaurants. I love it here. I still hate the cold dreary winters, especially the lake effect snow (I drive a Mustang), but as I see some of the problems in other areas of the country, I'm more willing to put up with those drawbacks!

We all have our weather issues but the fact is, we choose to live where we live. We just have to make the best of it.
@chrystaltree sounds like a dream to me.....I love winter and will take it over any summer day!
and you know what else I hate even more than summer? When we are in the midst of summer and talk about fall/winter holidays and people are told not to "wish" their life away, but yet when winter comes around, it's okay to talk of the upcoming spring and want the winter days gone... that's my favorite
Yes, people do that. I'm sure I have done it. I suppose some of us just cannot and never will understand how people can dislike summer or not be in the moment and just enjoy every moment it. Brief as it is for some of us. I'm just happy that we have string of 90 plus days headed our way. I thought the 90's were over for this year but we have a week long heat wave coming.
