Another Problem Tracking USPS Return

[ Edited ]

I posted earlier about a problem I had with a USPS return that I took to the UPS store.  Today I had another return that I took to the post office.  They scanned it and gave me a receipt.  When I tracked the receipt when I got home it says "Label Created, Not Yet In System."  I thought after they scanned it it would say "Package Dropped Off At Post Office."

How can it not be in the system when I have a receipt?  They scanned it right in front of me.  At least I have a receipt, but I can't prove what was in the box.  This isn't a QVC return.  It's another Nordstrom return.

@NickNack I took a package to the Post Office on Wednesday and it took 24 hrs before  the status changed to "in possession of post office" and it is still sitting there awaiting pickup.  When I track the return I can see the item only when it starts to move "intransit" and then it takes only one day to see the item "delivered". I don't understand the process either.

When I take to the UPS store they tell me that the Post Office will pick up that afternoon and this process takes almost 2 days (even with a receipt) to see the item finally in the possession of the post office. It can be frustrating!

Thanks @GAQShopr53.  That makes me feel a little better.  I am completely frustrated!  I took my package to the UPS Store on the 8th, and it still is only showing "delivered to agent" on the 10th--nothing since then and today is the 16th..  I was hoping the Post Office would move things along faster.  I never have a problem when returning something UPS.

@NickNack I did find out from the Post Office that certain packages only get picked up once a week and I could not believe what he was saying...so now I try to drop off as close as possible to the pickup time. My last package to QVC was at the post office for 7 days before it finally moved to Atlanta and then Lancaster...all of this in 2 days!

I remember the good old days before we had tracking and everyone had a device where they could see the progress of a packadge.  We mailed it and blissfully waited for it to be delivered in however long it took.  No stress or anxiety.  Do you think we're better off now?

@Kachina624 Nope...I remember being overseas and it could take as long as 21 days for a letter or package to arrive to its final destination...We are made to think things are better but in reality having the technology is a stressor of its own.

Whenever I order something and get a tracking number from the company, it always says it can take 24 hours before the status will start showing.  That’s for FedEx and UPS, as well.

When I return something to QVC at the post office, normally that afternoon or the next day I will get an email from QVC acknowledging the return has been dropped off.

It takes 24 hours.  You have to give the system time to work, these things don't happen instantaneously.   They give you a receipt and then you go online the next day or the perhaps the day after that if you dropped the package off in the afternoon and then you have your location information.  The same thing happens when you purchase something online and they email you with the tracking information,  whether it's Ups, Usps, Fedex or the one with yellow trucks; it says "label created" because that's what happened.  The package was logged in and label was created but it's not in transport status yet.

Re: Another Problem Tracking USPS Return

When I take a normal package to the post office and they scan it, it says something like "package dropped off at post office."  That's what I expected it to say.  Today it says "In Transit" and "waiting for agent to pick it up."  I assume that's what it's going to say until I receive notice from Nordstrom that they received it.  That's what it said when I took the return to the UPS store to be sent by US Mail.  It's just frustrating that it doesn't go through the regular tracking system.

The label said "Smart Post Label."  I guess the tracking for that is different than a regular label.  It must be sent a cheaper way for the company.

My goodness....RELAX!!! Give it time! Geez just because you drop it off and obtain a receipt doesn't mean you are the only one sending something!!
