While I knew that Prime had an increase, I was taken aback while checking my statement.  I always do it by phone.  The charge was $126 plus change.  I love Amazon but I'm questioning whether I need Prime.  I don't do anything other than placing orders, no streaming, books, or any of the other services.  Nothing i order is so important that i need it within a couple of days.  Like everybody else, Amazon's prices have gone up and I can buy locally for less.  I guess I'm trying to talk myself out of Prime.  With all my other memberships, the cost has risen to around $700 a year.  Those that have Prime, do you think it's worth it?

After using Amazon Prime for a number of years we have decided to discontinue it.  In the past we were ordering a lot since we moved into a new condo.  Now that we have most of the items we need, don't see a use for it anymore.

@bootsanne

I am discontinuing Prime. I am unable to stream due to slow internet and live in a rural area without the perks of those who live in a Metro area. If I need something, I will wait until the minimum is met for free shipping.

It is for me, I live in a small town with few shopping opportunities. If I need something large or small I can have it in two days. I also use Prime video, prime reading and music. It sounds like you could live without it, but I don’t want to.

Cancel. You obviously have no need for Prime.

I’ve had Prime for years and love it. I would never get it for shipping. I rarely paid shipping before I had Prime. I got Prime for the video - I don’t have cable. The video alone is worth the price for me. But I use other benefits, too.

I gladly pay the fee as I do most of all my shopping online with AMZ---- I pay way less for a year than all the shipping I get for free. And I am on my DD account as she lives with me, so I only have to reimburse her for 1/2. Works great!!!

I'm thinking it is not worth it to me, either. I order some things. I watch a little bit on Amazon Prime. I read/listen to some books & music, but I think I can do okay without it.

I don't think I am going to renew when it's time.

We can always join again if we miss it.

I would never even consider cancelling Prime.  I've had it since it began.

Amazon is my go-to place for just about everything!   I figure I save more than it costs me for Prime.

I’ve never had Prime and don’t need it.  I wouldn’t use the services and free shipping isn’t free if I have to pay for a membership.  I don’t order much  from them anymore, so it isn’t worth it for me.  But I realize I’m in the minority.

I gave up Prime after I did a serious look at my use.  I had started with it when I bought an Amazon tablet and wanted to catch up on the years of Downton Abbey that I'd missed and Amazon then was the only availability.  I kept it for a while, but found I didn't much like their free new books, I already have an estensive CD collection of the music I want in my house, and I had already begun to cut way back on random ordering.

When I compared my annual cost for shipping aa well as the basic cost of products ordered, that year I was way ahead here at QVC.  And I could see no reason to pay upfront for "free" shipping.  Now that Prime costs more and I buy even less, for me it's even less important.

I could try again some year as I did with Costco which I rejoined after several years without it -  I didn't save much by rejoining, but there are specific products of theirs I like, but I can decide when my rernewal date is closer.  They, too, could price me out!
