@McDuffMany of you have read about the two week period I have had.  First I laid to rest my "second" mom.  Two days later, DH comes back with his Harley friends from a week and a half (incl travel) for fellowship for a guy who lost his young 30 yr. old son, drove in the cold rain with a virus and in our driveway, the bike popped out of gear.  It bucked him off five feet onto the pavement cracking a rib, deflating a lung, and we later learned dislocated an arm.  All on his right side.  He's right handed and has a straight drive.  While this was going on, a close friend of mine suffered an untimely death in the ICU below us because she wouldn't follow up when steroids didn't work for infections.  Bacterial pnemonia took her.

Across the street, on the other campus of the hospital, another good friend and student from early years almost bled to death from a bleading ulcer and was in a coma.  They couldn't awaken him.

Four days later, I spent the day in tears.

Our beautiful dog, Levi, was bloated.  Our vet couldn't see what was going on at all after 4 exrays.  The best thing for him was to take him to a special center in Greenville, SC 1:30 hours away.

We didn't know what would happen.  Hopefully exploratory surgery would show us.

It turned out to be an open area in the small intestines away from other organs, which they removed.  They'll keep him for recovery several days.

I have never, ever seen a resource like Upstate Veterinary Specialists of Greenville, SC.  Different wings for surgery, eyes, skin, and a best business award too!

I hope all of us have a wonderful resource available for our babies.

Thank You UVS!  You gave me back my hope because i've been so depleated.

I am so sorry for your losses. Upstate Vet is absolutely wonderful. I have been going there for over 10 years and they have treated pneumonias, tumors, kidney problems and all kinds of life threatening illnesses in my fur babies. The doctors are excellent and they provide high tech studies. One of my doxies had a CT of his nose to rule out a tumor, another had a cardiac ultrasound and so forth. I do not hesitate to use their emergency services either. And they have some beautiful Ron Burns art work on the walls. Great resource for our state.

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.

Wow...this brings to mind that old adage, "when it rains, it pours!"  What a lot of stress you've had to handle in such a short period of time!

I'm so sorry for the loss of your "second mom" and your close friend.  Hopefully, your husband will not suffer any compllications during his recovery and your sweet Levi will have a swift recovery.

Hopefully, there will only be sunny days ahead!  Take good care!

@ECBG  It good you got all the bad stuff in your life over all at once.  Now you should be worry-free for the next 10 years.

Those vetinary specialty clinics are amazing and offer the best care available but they're very pricey.  Almost two years ago I got this wonderful smooth-coated collie girl from a seizure of 150 purebred Collies in Texas.  As soon as she was spayed she developed an auto-immune   disease which would get better, then worse over and over.  I made many trips to the specialty clinic with her.  Spent Easter Sunday there.  We racked up over $10,000, in bills paid by collie rescue.  In the end we had to put her down.  I had her about 14 months.
