While looking through all these pictures of the beautiful cars of our day, it reminded me of a Sunday afternoon about 5 years ago.  A co-worker heard about a car show being held in my town on a weekend, and we went to check it out.  As we were walking around and scoping out the cars he was so impressed when I mentioned that "This looks just like the parking lot outside my high school!"

Every generation has it's pluses and minuses......but boy we boomers hit the jackpot with our cars and our music.

But we did have the Pinto.

@just bee- I had a 68 Mustang that was an metallic turquoise with matching interior.  I loved that car. I drove it until someone rear ended me when I was stopped at a red light and totaled it in 1973.  You are right - we had great cars and music!  Our best friends had an orange Pinto!

I really can't criticize.  My family was partial to AMC products.  Two Hornets and an Ambassador station wagon.

Yellow exterior, black interior.  I think that was when I started appreciating bees.

When I was in high school my brother wanted to unload his 1974 Mustang II hatchback in order to buy a 1969 British Racing Green MGC-GT (yes, MGC) with wire wheels.

I needed a car because I was getting ready to head off to college so my parents made an arrangement with my brother and he ended up with his MG and I ended up with his Mustang II.

I was so impressed by the fake burl accents.  Actually that was the only thing that was impressive about that car.

It was a miracle that I managed to get through college with it.

Thanks to the Internet, I have found a similar car with the same interior.

Mine was in much better shape when I turned it over to a neighbor so I could purchase a new car:

The 1983 model was Motor Trend's Car of the Year.  The 1984 model was not.

Yes.  The one to watch.  I watched it being towed.  Often.

@just bee AMC had it's moments!

I can remember that my neck was on a swivel whenever a '72, '73 or '74 Javelin crossed my path.  I still think they are one of the most beautiful cars ever.

YES!  My sister loved the Javelin but they were a little pricier than the Hornet.

One of the best car commercials ever was the one for the Javelin with a very young Richard Dreyfuss and Vic Tayback.

My first 3 cars were Firebirds, the last was a Formula 400, actually.

I hate that they brought back the Camaro.
